How are the effects of aspirin, warfarin, and low-molecular-weight heparin monitored? :icon_scratch:

PT ,, does a better job in monitering warfarin,
PTT, to moniter heparin..... :idea:

for LMW heparin usually no monitoring is required. but if it is really required then you do Activated Factor Xa levels.

for warfarin you do INR.

for regular heparin it is PTT.

dunno about aspirin - never heard of monitoring for that one so far! maybe they do platelet function function studies or something to assess the effect on platelet aggregation...

maybe md2besoon can enlighten us!

aspirin prolongs bleeding time as we know, and as we know is not monitored with lab testing grin/

I think that asprine can be monitored by bleeding time and platelet count but not sure I think I read it somewhere but don't remeber now :|

Aspirin prolongs the bleeding time, which is a measure of platelet function. I hope I'm clear now smiling face
