im a graduate from chennai,India,i would like to know the recommendation letter format,is there a particular format for the recomendation letters.

not really. US doctors usually know what to write. They should mention what they did with you, give specifics if possible (as opposed to generalities) as to why you are a great doctor, etc.

Hi Tasneem and Retro, how is it going?
Retro i have a q for you. I would like to get a dean's letter from my dean, but she has no clue about it and so do i. Is there are any official format that i can send her or anything like that? What kinda letter it suppose to be? Any comment on this would be very helpful.

There is a format they are looking for. It is supposed to compare you to your classmates. I can't remember where I saw it. I think it was on the ECFMG web site, or maybe on AAMC site. I didn't get one like that. I just had them write a letter saying how I did on my exams and that I was a good guy. I don't think programs expect the proper letter formats from IMGs.

I'm an IMG and in my medical college they don't rank students.I saw on the ECFMG website and this is what was recommended to have???What should I do now???Should the Dean's letter now just talk about what I did as a student and my personal performance?
