i know this questions might serve no purpose at all and most if not all will view it as stupid but i'm having so much fun here that i had to ask during an interview, if i mentioned that one of the reasons i'm interested in this program is cz its in a city that has a basketball team ( eg cleveland cavs) and that's one of the reason i really wanna be here ( in this city) how seriously would a PD take it and would it affect me negatively or would it show better probability to fit in? keep in mind the CV will include a line about being part of a local basketball team and part of university basketball team!! YES A FMG WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN MEDICINE ON HIS MIND :-({|= I LOVE THIS GAME, and hopefully when i retire i'd become an ESPN nba commentator!!!

Just phrase it in a good way, and you should be okay. In other words, when they ask you why you chose this program, tell them the location is a prime factor as you like the city, and it's associated activities. You know, finesse your message!

It depends on your interview also. Some interviews are more formal than others. In my first interview though, the PD and I were talking about sports and he jokingly expressed his lack of ability in any type of sports. So you can work anything into a conversation if you're good..
