Hi all, I am egyption too, will start my internship in aldemerdash hospital next month ISA.
I am still not sure if I'll study USMLE or not , I am stil gathering info about it.
((1)) I have a plan about the books needed and I wanna know your opinions about it:
1. Kaplan books for all subjects ecxept : Physi & Path (BRS) - micro (redic. simple).
2. First aid.
3. Qbank , NBME, may be also blue prints MCQ.
4. May be kaplan webprep course ( if it isn't very expensive )
I am planning to finish these books in a 10-14 month duration ISA, do you think it's possible?
((2)) Does anyone of you know an egyption that studies USMLE and is now working in USA? please if any of you know,tell us how exactly did he prepare for it .
((3)) I heared that TOEFL is no longer needed for USMLE, and that they examine your languague during the CSA. correct?
((4)) what's the average cost for USMLE in egyption pounds including the airfare and everything till you begin a residency there? I heared it is 30 - 40 LE , correct?
((5)) How can we know the time of exams here in Egypt?

what's AMIDEAST center? I don't know it actually.
about sharing info, it's really my pleasure to share info with you, I don't know a lot yet but I am reading on the net and asking friends . why don't we share info here through the forum , I mean it'll be better than email as many people can read it and benifit. If you wanna use emails , no problem at all, we can send emails.

thanks a lot for the site about amideast ,
I noticed that amideast tells you mainly about the steps to have a residency in usa , and it isn't teaching ... I thought it's like kaplan.
there is a site i know , http://www.ecfmg.org/2005ib/contents.html , it contains the rules and requirements in order to have a ECFMG certificate. I haven't read it all yet but I noticed that it's very useful ...

hi doctor how are you?
you asked if USMLE is easier or MCCQE .. MCCQE is much easier than usmle , as in mccqe you only study clinical (IM, surgery, gyna, etc..) and don't study the basic and also the exams are much easier ( I heared this but i am not completely sure). also it's less expensive.
but mccqe has 2 disadvantages: first is that you need an immigration in order to have residency in canada ( this isn't essential in usa) , second is that you can't take exams of mccqe in egypt ( i think in KSA , Syria , Dubai)
I read something nice on another forum and here it is :
1.IF U WANT TO GET JOB SOON..HAVE A PG..IMMIGRATE..TO..AUSTRALIA IS BEST....GIVE THE EXAM..
2.LESS TENSION ...MORE MONEY..EXAM NOT SO EASY..NEWZEALAND
3.LESS TENSION...MORE MONEY..EXAM NOT TOO TOUGH..BUT VISA MAY TAKE UPTO 2YRS....CANADA..
4.MORE TENSION....MORE WAIT FOR JOB...NEED MORE LUCK..MORE MONEY THAN ABOVE...UK
5.MORE TENSION...WAIT FOR JOB...NEED LUCK..NOT SO EASY USMLE..MAXIMUM MONEY....USA
