hello... i need to ask u that i have passed step 1 with a score of 80 and step 2 with a score of 79 and also took cs in january ...i know these are not very good scores ...my question is ...should i participate in the post match scramble or just wait another year and do some research or some thing else to gain usce ...also i have the token number but i havent registered in eras ...according to ecfmg i can still send my documents and register for nrmp by feb 23rd ...is it worth it ...

thanks a lot in advance

I guess you should try for the scramble. You already have your token. It can't hurt to send in your documents. Just remember, they won't keep them until next year.

thank u so much for the response... i will go for it now ...also can u please tell me which fields should i try ...and is it possible to reapply or transfer next year in internal medicine ...if i am not able to get into internal medicine this year

you should try IM and maybe FP..and you can always transfer or change specialty after one year. The important thing is to just get in a residency program.

Also consider trying applying to programs that do not participate in match. One such program I know is Internal Medicine at St. Michael's Medical Center in Newark, NJ. Jersey City Medical Center has a pediatric residency that is not participating in match either. Lastly, and I don't know for sure, but St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson, NJ, may not participate in match for internal medicine. Contact these programs and find out, as you may find a spot at these places without having to worry about scramble and all that.
