:? Base question: I got blueprints for Surgery, Peds, OB-GYN, ER med, Psych, Internal Med, and crush. Now, do I need to buy books for subspecialties such as Neuro, Cardio, Endo??? went to NBME step 2 CK outline and there are a million things listed on there! Can someone enlighten me as to what topics/subjects I need to cover? Further, will blueprints suffice? I heard thats what the AMG's use and wanted to try something different, used Kaplan for step 1. What about FA? have 2 months to study for this maddening exam.

any advice appreciated

Well, I used Kaplan, so I can vouch that Kaplan is good enough for a good score. You are right that AMG use mostly Blueprints, and they do fine (although by definition, getting in the 90s mean you are doing better than most US students). I thought Blueprints did a very superficial job of covering topics. Kaplan is also superficial compared to a real text, but it is more than blueprints. The choice is yours. I personally feel the test questions on step II are worded in such a way that the only way to prepare is to work on the wards. If you look at the syllabus, yes, everything is on there. FA is not as good as it is for step I. I felt I knew most of it already. Some like it. I know this is not a clear answer, but good luck!

Clear enough, thanks, I will go with Kaplan and supplement with Blueprints since I have the books already.

just curious, if you had to watch the videos, which ones would you watch? dont know if I could finish all

I didn't watch any videos. I watched half for step I and felt they were a waste of my time (I had limited time). So I just read the notes. I was able to study for step II in a little over 2 months that way. If you have the time, I would watch the videos for reinforcement. If not, just read the notes. Everything is in them.
