Hey!

So here I am trying to pass my pathophysiology class (current avg = 65%). I've got 3 more exams (including a cumulative final) before our semester ends and I MUST pass the class, otherwise my loving administration will kindly "recommend me for dismissal" since I'm already on probation.

Most people use Robbins (the big one) since BRS doesn't seem to be enough. However, I find myself getting completely overwhelmed by the detail and I'm falling further behind with each passing day. I had never even heard of Goljan until I joined this forum, but it sounds like his stuff is definitely the way to go for boards....and hopefully my class!

I checked on amazon and found 3 Goljan books that would probably be helpful:

Rapid Review Path (2004)
Pathology (STARS)
Pathology REVIEW (STARS)

Nice-- but I have no idea as to how these differ from one another and which would be best for my situation. I know some people have mentioned needing the Goljan notes/text that correspond to the audio, but that isn't a concern of mine. If anyone has ANY feedback at all, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help!!!

the 500pg one. It has everything in it. Class is a lot more detailed than board review. I can't imagine anyone just using brs or rapid review for path class. I myself used Robbins and read that book almost 3-4 times thru. I have also read thru about half of Goljan's text (since he came so highly recommended by the forums) and can safely say that the book is more than complete. IT lacks slides and any pictures so if you do go that route you're going to have to look at some gross/micro slides from another source while reading his textbook. But for content, Goljan's 500pg stars textbook, not the rapid reveiw nor the outline format stars reveiw...is a viable option. I still believe that nothing beats Robbins for a first time path course. I still refer to it as I'm studying for boards now.

Thanks for responding! I usually don't look at the pics in Robbins since our prof. uses primarily WEBPATH images. So based on text alone, would you STILL pick Robbins over Goljan's 500 pg. book? Wanna tell my why?
