Hello everyone, I am new to the USMLE, and I am an IMG not newly graduate (1989, and practiced as a cardiologist for 6 years in my country, and my first language is not English), now I am ready to take the USMLE. I am seeking for some advices and suggestion on how and where I should start. Have you seen anyone with similar background? How long will it take normally for people like me? Any help will be very appreciated! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Hello: I'm in a similar situation. I'm from Mexico, i graduated from Medical school in 1991, 1 year of social service and did my residency in anesthesiology in 1993 and a fellow in cardioanesthesiology in 1994, after finishing i worked as a cardioanesthesiologist for 6 years. I moved to the US bs of my marriage and have to start from the bottom last year. I took step 1 in apr and step 2 in aug. I passed in the first attempt in both steps and now i'm waiting for the results of the cs which i took in nov. My english was not as good and i didn't feel so comfortable with it, but now that i'm working i feel more confident. Is not imposible to do what you want if you have the will, determination and discipline. I have only 2 interviews, for this year match process but in both, the program directors told me that my appliation was very strong and that i will have good opportunities with them. Anyway, i have been invited for a 3rd visit to one of the programs and i have a good feeling, so hopelly God i will start the residency in July. So, cheer up and go for it!!!!! wish you all the luck. RoC
