I have been a silent reader on this forum for a while and I thought if I did okay on the test, I'd put in my two cents. My score correlations are in the correlations section. I think the NBME is the best predictor of your actual score....my actual score was within a couple of points of the score on the NBME tests. I used the Kaplan notes for my study. I had bought "Crush" but I never had time to read it. I think the Kaplan notes have enough information for the exam. I did the Usmleworld qbank...wasn't able to do all of it, only about a 1000 questions. The place where it really helped me was to pace myself. I was able to finish each block about 10-12 minutes before time ran out. I think the key issue is to be able to get a feel of the exam....The boards want you to know things that you would encouter in everyday american family practice/ basic medicine. I think Internal medicine, pediatrics and psychiatry are the most heavily tested, but all subjects are tested! I'd be happy to answer any questions anyone has...thanks for everything you guys.

Hi Hamidi, I finished step 1 in june. I started studying for step 2 in august. I joined the kaplan center prep but I didn't watch all the videos coz' I feel better with self-study. I would say I had about 2 months of serious study during my preparation. Hi cookie22003, I did not read anything other than what I mentioned. I did watch the kaplan video for Internal Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Psychiatry. I don't think you have to watch the videos to crack the exam though. The content in the kaplan books is sufficient as ling as you understand it. Good luck!

Hi SA, I think you should go for the timed mode of the test because it gives you a better feel for the exam. Alternatively, you could buy one of the tests as timed and the other untimed. I did the 1st test about 10 days before the test and the second one about 8 days before. But, you could probably take one sooner if you felt like you were prepared to do so and then use the results of that test to work on you areas of weakness. Good Luck!

Hey screwit, Thanks for sharing your experiences. I failed Step 2 three times, and finally managed to pass with a 206/84 this time. Advice? - Failed Step2 x3, Reapplying Match http://www.prep4usmle.com/community/topic10426.ht... 4th time's the charm =) http://www.prep4usmle.com/community/topic16939.ht... Since you did so super, I was wondering if you had heard any great advice for Step 3, or had advice for improving my score on the multiple-choice portion? Thanks! etcknight
