I cannot understand why ACE inhibitors are effective!
In the zona glomerulosa:

Corticosterone
↓ 18 Hydroxylase (Activated by Angiotensin 11)
Aldosterone.

Since ACE inhibitors block production of AT11, you should have an increase in corticosterone and all compounds before it, which should cause an increase in blood pressure!

Can anyone please explain to me why they do work?

Look the principal rate limiting step in the synthesis of all steroids is the conversion of Cholesterol  Pregnenolone catalyze by Desmolase

It is the induction of Desmolase in particular steroid hormone producing organs which wud lead to synthesis of different steroids...

for eg. Zona fasciculata/reticularis : desmolase is induced by ACTH

& in Zona glomerulosa : Desmolase in induced by Angiotenin II
