I think the answer is before you start applying, so that program directors can see that you have finished all your exams.

If I were you I would clear step1, step2 ck&cs just before the interview season (Beginning of october), you will guarantee more interview by doing so and you can also get some prematch offers. After being certified and if you are looking for H1 Visa clear Step3 after interview season before program start date (1st of July).
If you are asking for the official deadlines, in order to being eligible to participate in the match you have to be certified at the end of February, which means you have to take your last exam during december 2005.

thanks for ur contribution alice, but I need some help with this..I am expecting to finish my Step 1, Step 2ck&cs by December 2005, from ur post in the site I guess I will be elegible to participate in the 2006 match..what is gonna happen after the Match? I mean the match results, the interview time frame and the biginning of the residency program...Thank u in advance!!

Interview season begins in mid-November for most programmes.Many will invite you for interview sith just step 1 and 2 scores as they understand that CS may take time.But its best to give CS by end of this year.

got 85 in step 1. was gonna take step 2 ck in 10 days byt got 310 in nbme. gonna take step 2 CS in dec 6. i may have to postpone my step 2 ck. i heard the usmle is closed first 2 weeks of jan so i may end up taking it in jan 15 since my score wont come out till first week of feb. already have 2 interviews for psych. gonna take another nbme and then decide.
what should i do?
