I'd go for TPR since MAP calculation includes Sys pressure. Granted MAP is a reflection of Afterload, but the BEST ans seems to be TRP.

well mdwannabe...first of all tpr is not in index of after load.....consider hemorrahage, where tpr can rise so high tht it can even shutdown the kidney in order to bring the MAP in normal range.... "Afterload is the force tht the left ventricular muscle must generate to eject the blood into aorta" the two indices for afterload are: !. Peak left ventricular pressure 2. Mean aortic pressure

A- LV end diastlic pressure along with C- Pulmonary capillary wedge pressure ; they are indices for PRELOAD. "It the prestretch fore on ventricular muscle at the end of diastole"

You are correct ... I appologize for not reading the choices correctly.

ssrpk one more thing i m confused that in FA they said that afterload proportion to peripheral resistance. so could we count this for afterload.

resistance is proportional to afterload but still tht effect is indirect ... by way of MAP MAP = TPR X CO

i will go with "a" because its the pressure present in the left ventricle at the end of diastole just before systole and this is the best index thanks
