I took STEP 2 in August and got my results back with 175. This was very depressing to see that I failed it by 7 points, however I have been studying on and off since then and plan to take the test again in February/early March. I have ordered the Kaplan lecture DVDs and have been watching them and have worked the USMLE world questions with an average of 55%. Can you give suggestions on further strategy before I take the test again?

I'll say you sould take NBME before your test, see how you do on them, then decide whether you take it now or later. Should get about 500 on them to be able to comfortably pass, i think. Have you finished all UW qs?

Yes, I did all of the USMLE World Qs and now going back over for second time and making notes. Can you tell me exactly what you mean by taking the NBME exam and where to go to take it? Thanks for the input.
