2 yo infant with uncomplication of coarctation of aorta appears to be in good health, growth & development are normal. The constriction is located distal to subclavian artery, which of the following is decreased in this patient

A. Upper body blood flow
B. Lower body blood flow
C. Upper body blood pressure
D. Upper body vascular resistance
E. Lower body vascular resistance

I did B too, but the choice is E !!!

original explanation:

Firstly
there is high flow in the upper extremeties :arrow: excessive blood supply :arrow: vasoconstriction :arrow: increase vascular resistance
Low flow in lower extremeties :arrow: lack of blood supply :arrow: vasodilation for more blood :arrow: decrease vascular resistance

Secondly
By this adaptation mechanism :arrow: blood flow is not very different between upper & lower extremeties

Do you have any different arguments about this explantaion ( from Kaplan)
