Tried to discern myself, but I'm having some doubts because I'm not really good at reading "body language". I mean, Those people always show you how good their programs are. Here' my own opinion, feel free to modify:

1. Rochester General Hospital, NY

2. St. Vincent hospital, Worcester, MA

3. Kansas University School of Medicine at Wichita program KS

4. Howard University DC

5. University of Hawaii

6. JHU/Sinai (I haven't interviewed there though, only read their website)

7. St. Francis, Evanston, IL

8. Michael Reese, IL

9. Hurley medical center, Flint MI

10. Texas tech amarillo

11. Mount sinai North general NY

Cheers,

Yuno

Hey, only you can do this. Do you want fellowship or not? If you do, go to the university programs. If not, go to the nicest comunity program that you still felt would give you a decent education.

U Hawai'i is a university program. I know people who did residency there and got great fellowships. They loved the place. Granted, they are US students, they went to med school on the mainland, and are native Hawaians. I would say from your list Hawai'i should be number 1. Howard is a weak program. But it is university based. I would probably rank it lower than some of your others. Rochester is affiliated to U Rochester isn't it? It is not Strong Memorial which is the primary U Rochester program, but it is closely affiliated with U Rochester. So I would rank it highly. I inteviewed at Strong for Pediatrics, and pedi residents rotate through both Strong and RGH. So I like RGH. The only other program I know anything about in your list is Texas Tech ... and I have nothing nice to say about that program. Good luck with your decision.

Don't list a hospital that you haven't interviewed at. They won't be putting you on their list.

bbb - trying to combine common sense and humour into realistic answers, but not going to guess on anyone's chances of getting into a position....

O.. one more thing. About JHU at Sinai, I just interviewed there, before I got the prematch offer. I think it's a decent one, especially that you can get letters from JHU staff. Besides that, I didn't see anything special about that program.
