Dear friends, I got 234/95 - this is pretty much what I expected...

Step 1 score 3/2: 234/95
Q-bankscore/% complete: 65% in the beginning and 72% at the end/ did about 85% of them
NBME 1/ time b4 exam: 550/5 days

I used Kaplan lecture notes, First Aid, BRS Pathology and Physiology. Listened to Goljan lectures. Did Q-bank just once.

I graduated from med school in 1996. I took about 1 year of serious studying after work hours (first 8 months about 4 hrs per day, last 4 months about 6 hours per day). It was sometimes very hard to get focused after a stressful day at work..

I took the test on Dec 27 and got the notification today (Jan 21). Pretty fast, don't you think?

The exam was pretty well rounded. I can't recall any unusual topics, radiographs. Just one angiogram and a few genetics family trees.

On my first block, I was very distracted by the lady next to me, who was taking GRE. She was typing very fast and loud, and even earphones didn't help me concentrate. I think I probably made 50% errors on this block. After the block, I ran out and asked the employee to change my seat. Because I lost some break time, I couldn't calm down during the 2nd and 3rd block. After lunch , I was pretty collected and cool during blocks 4-7.

As most of the people, immediately after the test, I wasn't even sure if I passed. I could only recall the mistakes, and slept terribly the first few nights. Although I was good at epidemiology and stats, I made a lot of stupid mistakes on patient/doctor questions.

To be fair, I think the exam is totaly doable. Everyone of us IMGs can do well on it. Just need motivation, time, and good materials. I highly recommend Kaplan materials. I think they are the most efficient way for IMGs. When depressed or overwhelmed, I would try to make it fun by studying at Starbucks or Barnes and Noble.

Thanks to all for contributing to this forum! This forum rocks! Good luck to all!
