Kaplan plus FA is all you need for everything. Many people like Goljan a lot, but I didn't use it (didn't know about it in time). Other than those books, don't waste your time and effort reading too many books. In general, you can use any of the books you listed, just pick one and read it over and over. That is the key to sucess. If you read several books only once or twice, you will just get confused. This is the tried and true method ... and it works! Your schedule is a bit ambitious, but since you have until July, you are fine. I would aim to read each Kaplan book 3-4 times before your exam. Take the NBME one month before your exam date to see how you are doing. Start doing questions after your first or second read (you can do them earlier, but you might run out of questions over 6 months). A final point, if you are not getting the scores you want on the NBME (they have a correlation to the USMLE) then postpone your exam. But if you study dilligently, 6 months is more than enough time to prepare for this exam. Good luck!

Hi rajuanju1, Great plan, you have plenty of time to master the material for Step 1. I recently took the exam and used mainly the following materials to prepare: Kaplan books - 2004 edition Kaplan Q book Kaplan Q bank - 3 months NMS questions First Aid - 2005 edition BRS Pathology Goljan lectures and lecture notes Lippincott pharmacology HY Gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, embryology My advice to you is to stick to a few books and master the material well. Biochemistry is well represented and taught in the Kaplan book. No need to go through the thick Lippincott's unless you need more explanations. Kaplan is more than enough. I recommend you to do questions at the end of each chapter in the Kaplan subject books but not to do Q bank until you've done your first reading. A 3 month subscription is $249 and not something that you want to waste - so do questions from Kaplan Q book or NMS if you would like to test yourself. Goljan lectures are a great way to learn how to integrate the material you've learned. He is enjoyable to listen to and you learn how to think like the question writers. His lectures helped me a great deal when I took the actual exam. My recommendation for success: Kaplan notes+Kaplan Q bank +First Aid+Goljan = passing the USMLE Best wishes to you! pinkangel
