 Hi everybody, I just noticed that I've made a mistake in my previous message. I plan to take ck in late august,cs in early august. Did biostat-prev med,but donot feel finished with it.Doing CVS now, with cmdt & UW, occasionally washington manual.Everything takes more time than Ive planned. I sleep 10hr/day nowadays bec of flu & tiring night shifts, sometimes I'm so lucky that no patient comes in to the ER between 00:00-07:00, I miss those days. Sleeping more than 6-7hr makes me feel guilty. AYESHAH I think you'll be the first to take ck in this group, all my prays are for you, inshallah you'll have high score,good luck...

Merih thankyou . I wish i had that kindda confidence in myself. I guess as the exam date approaches i am getting more tense. Aren't any more nails left to bite!!!!!!! Confidence plays an important role in this exam...in my opinion.... and after reading intern_doc's post..... i have lost what little of it i had. I dunno how i'll get thru this time. 
Samer i am not writing more often 'cause i don't have anything positive to write except whine !!!!!

Hey Ayeshah,I ahve the same question.I'll be done by uw in 8 days ,after that I have a choice to do Qbook(which has explainations init) or NBME(no explainations but highly recomended).I was planning to post this question next week but it's good that u have the same question .Hopefully v'll get some good advice on it.I hope ur prep is going well.My kids are hme for summer vacations and I realy wish I had done this test b 4 that.Happy studying everyone..

Yes its a tough choice, my biggest fear is what if i don't score well on MBME and so near the real exam. anyway lets see what i decide. but some input from previous test takes is really appreciated. I am doing UW and i am doing dermatology and ethics nowadays. what about u? what do u plan to do in these last 2 weeks?
My UW subscription expires on 14th june and i was wondering if its worth it to extend it for a week. what do u think?

Ayeshah,Iam doing uw with quick review of diff subjects these days and amy subscrip was expiring last weekend so I did extend it for 2 more weeks.Hopefully I'll finish uw by nest mon but thought it's better to still have more days then less.After that I am thinking of doing KAplan simu cd, usmle cd for practice (my speed is still kind of slow on tests).Only thing I am confused about is wether to do NBME or kaplan q book.Probably I'll go for kaplan q book unless someone with test exp advise me to do otherwise.Atleast I'll read explainations and learn something.For NBME I'll have to look for explainations(which might be worth doing but v time consuming).In step 1 also i did not do nbme and FA(cud'nt get time for it).So what do u think....Praying for our sucess..Good luck

NBME doesn't sound like a good idea to me, i mean it can work both ways, can boost u or depress u and like u said, no explanations!!! so i don't think i'll go ahead with it. Its a good idea to go ahead with kaplan and usmle cd.
I like the idea of quick review of diff subs. I need to do that. I guess i am spending too much time on UW explanations, get to do only 2 blocks each day . I need to start revising. sooo many minor things are left, don't know when i'll be able to do that. I plan to finish dermatology today, doing it from FA, i hope thats enough. after that i'll have to see ENT and EYE. how much time should i spend on that?
I think u are on the right track. U are reviewing the subs and doing UW. Good luck. My prayers are with u.

I think I will get my score in step 1 after three days...it has been reported last night ...please pray for me to have a high score
ayshah and hamidi:dears I don't think that doing unsolved unexplained Qs like NBME before the exam is a good idea...........if you have a high score or a bad score it is useless...because it doesn't predict precisely how you will perform the exam....and it will not help you interpretat the new ideas since it is not solved . and so it will just waste your time
but if you have a low score you will be panic before the exam and you may loose your self confidence which is as I guess the most important factor in passing the exam.
so if you find yourself have to solve question I suggest you read answered and explained questions

Ayesha ,I am still stuch on uw but chances r I wont do NBME.I think it is only good to do NBME when u have enuf time to look for ans(right or wrong) from ur other sources.Otherwise it's not more than a akind of a fortune teller(and I don't beleive in them).I had the same reason for not doing nbme in step 1.If I had enuf time I wud have done it but not now.If I change my mind I'll let u know.How is ur prep going.I did biostat and feel lke banging my head on the wall.I understand it when I read it but then it just slips over my slippry mind.

Hey Ayeshah, saw ur earlier massage after posting mine.Soryy, my kids being home I am not checking the forum regulrly.I think it is really worth spending time on uw.I also did it very slow but I guess as long a s u learn u r fine.also it builds ur stamina for the test.I'll also do Derma from FA.Ent and eye wud be aquick read.Don't need to spend too much time on it.After uw if I get time I'll do Qbook .what do u think a bout that.Also I have Kaplan simu cd and usmle cd to do.I have read ur ans ,and u seem to be pretty ready to take the test.U have worked hard now leave the rest to Allah.

Thanks for ur concern. I don't think i'll do NBME, my reluctance is what if i score bad, i already had very little time to prepare for step2 , haven't been able to be as thorough as i would have liked so i am already running a bit low on 'self-confidence'... nowadays i am just having this weird feeling that had i spend a little bit more time i know i could have done better' don't know y i am feeling that way!!!! kindda weird. Anyways like i said earlier i am so double minded about it that u never know, so lets see!!!!
Hamidi, everybody says FA is enough for derma. I was finally able to read it, now i am left with eye and ethics. I just plan to browse thru FA during these last few days, i feel it touches upon some major topics and i can't open the kaplan books now , i'll go into too much detail. I am not good in surgery, so lets see what i do about it, haven't decided yet, scoring especially low in traumatology!!!!!
I also plan to do Kaplan Q bank on CD after UW. How are u scoring on UW? i have finally been able to score in 60%.... i hope thats enough for the real exam.
There is a lot of pressure and anxiety and yes i'll be glad when its all over. and don't be too impressed by the answers, most of them i had to check before posting!!!

Hi Ayesha, u'll be fine .These doubtfull feelings are normal.U can never be sure about ur prep.As they say little big anxiety is good for u but keep it under control and don't let it ruin ur confidence.I have the same feeling that I shud have studied more but I guess we have worked hard and Allah will help us InshaAllah.Ppl who know me think I am too optimistic(or if u know Urdu Dheet is the word) but I beleive I am doing my best even if it's not even half of what oteer ppl are doing and leave the rest to Allah.I have fullfilled my duties as a wife and a mom and did my best to prepare for this test and I am sure u also did that.My uw score is not too good(like others) 58% on the first go and 62% when I finished my incorrect qs.Infact I realy admire and wonder how ppl get 70s or even mid 60s on uw.Try to relax and be confident. U'll do it

wow samer, what an excellent score. Kindly accept my heartiest congratulations. And thankyou so much for ur kind words, u are so right when u say the biggest battle for me now is to keep my anxiety under control.
Hamidi i agree with as well , i really tried hard and gave it everything that i have got. Now i leave the rest to Allah. I'll try my best to keep my anxiety under check..but its kindda hard.... but i'll work on that and now i leave everything in Gods hand.

sorry for the late reply. I actually lost all control and broke down this weekend. It wasn't pleasant but i am ok now, what can i say except just hang in there. This exam is not THE only thing and lets just take it as just another exam.What worst can happen... failure??? so what? its not like we'll be denied admission in med. school or ppl will stop loving us ..we can always try again...i know it sounds crappy..but what i am trying to say here is that this exam is not the end of the world. All we can do is to try our best...which i think we did.. now lets leave the rest to Allah. I especially like this quote "do as much as u can, in what ever time u've got"
I am left with 177 UW questions, i just quickly went thru EYE and ETHICS....i am at that stage where i don't care if i remember anything or not, i just want to be over with it...... just a week left and i plan to go thru FA and Kaplan questions.
I think u'll be fine. Don't worry this time, too , shall pass. We can't give up our duties , esp. where kids are concerned, so whats the point of spoiling their fun..right? Just have faith in urself and do as much as u can. If God wills it, what we have studied so far shall be enough.... i think i am using rationalization here!!!! .. but anyways don't get tense...though i am highly incompetent to give that advise esp. after the weekend.... but anyways my prayers are with u.

Thanks Ayeshah,ur words mean a lot to me.I just needed that.I am also very tense even though I am not letting it come on the surface so my family wont get effected.U wont beleive I forgot to wish my daughter happy Birthday when she woke up, even though I was busy making last minut arrangement for her party(and my mom's packing).I guess this is stress.Anyways like all clever moms I made her a surprise breakfast(monkey face pankcakes and smoothy).She is happy(so am I, not too guilty).I''l be leaving for airport pretty soon.I am mentallyp reparing my self for not studying at all today.
U hang in there.U have done the best u cud in the taime that u had and IshaAllah u'll succeed.My prayers are with u.....

U know what, take today off, don't stress and forget about step-2 for today, go out right for ur daughter , have fun and believe me u'll feel fresh and energetic after today, u can afford to take one day off, it won't hurt. I took a whole day off, slept in late, went out with my hubby.... to see the exam center!!!! but still it was a nice drive..... watched a movie , ate pizza, slept early so now i feel energized , for the final leg of my race.
So dear hamidi, no guilt, no stress, just go with the flow, its just one day, turn it in ur favor. Have fun, and if ur kids have fun and they are happy, believe me, u'll feel content and it will help u study better . the next day. And after today, u also think of it as ur final moments before the race is over, just go for it!!!! . Hope this helps
