Hi gollum, hamidi, indiaxman, and everybody. I have been reading the posts of everybody on and off. I guess its the same situation with everyone. I promised myself that i am going to study seriously as soon as i take my step 1. Its been 2 months and i am not sudying in full swing. Some days its ok some days its not. I feel that i am not able to remember anything. i read some internal medicine, surgery and bits of other subjects. i know from the posts that most of the people are married and also having kids. i have the same issue. u guys are an inspiration, whenever i read ur post hamidi and others i feel inspired and motivated. lets not give up and try our best to overcome this. good luck and godspeed to us guys. docak

hi all, good to hear from you after a long time, FH. Paeds takes a long time if you do it first. I did my Med reading before Paeds and so could glide through many topics in Paeds which are covered in detail in Med. thats just a suggestion of course I am still stuck on USMLE world. hey Hamidi and Indlaxman, whats up with your studies.

hi everybody, cordmd and docak, it was good to meet you on step 2 chat discussion yesterday. It helps to know that we are a group and not alone in this study process. Hoping to see you again next thursday and all others who wish to join. Hamidi, glad to know that you finished Paeds. Its tough to complete a very good reading, i guess you just need to read and move on. I don't think i remember half of my first reading, so you see its the same with everyone. I am continuing USMLE world, another few days of this and it should be over. That will be a great day as usmle world tests a lot of my patience! keep up the spirit everybody! bi, gollum

To all here: I really need advice on this and since we're kind of all in the beginning middle of step 2 prep, I know I can trust you guys. Apparently the interview season for the 2006 match starts around Sept/Oct for those who submit apps to indiv pgms. At the time ( I called and asked a few pgm directors) the predominant info needed is step 1 and 2 scores and that you have taken the CS. results of CS appear to be be preferred but not a requirement. So from now to Aug is when I have to take CK and CS. Is it better to take CS after CK - so CK by end July/beginning Aug and CS by end Aug/beginning Sept or should one take the CS sometime in the middle b/w now and Aug? Fact is I don't do well after an exam - I agonise and worry like crazy - so I'm really concerned about taking CS right in the middle of preparing for CK in case it totally throws me off course. Since CS is kind of different , I think I'l be able to handle reading for it right after CK, plus it'l help of course to have covered the Step 2 stuff. I've had some major discussions with a friend who's in the same boat and we can't decide whats better? I feel very stupidly undecided( yeah whats new!) so thought I'd ask?

Beleive me cordmd u r not alone.I am exactly in the same cofusion.I have reached the decision thatI'll take CS after CK.At least a big monster wud be out of the way.I still cannot decide when to take them.I want to get done by may and june but feel that I wud not be ready by then Let's see what happens.I think I'll go ahead nd take uw in apr and see how I am doing. Havn't got my orange slip yet.My 183 was received on march 4th Ur plan sounds perfect to me.

You are right - this decision making is so hard - however that is what I am sticking to now. ECFMG got my 183 on the 10th - have'nt heard from them yet about CK or CS. How is everyone elso doing? - I guess busy studying cos no posts recently from anyone. I keep saying "Happy Studying" is an oxymoron, but hey, you might as well be happy while doing it cos it sure has the potential to take the stuffing out of one anyway!!! So - Happy Studying!!!

Hi the first half of QE-1 is exactly like EE, the second half is different. They give a case and can ask u anything about it from DD to investigations to something like how would u counsil this patient. The second half counts ..if i remember correctly... about 25% of the total score. The scoring is a bit different. If u write an outrageously stupid investigation or DD or drug u get a zero, if u underwrite the required no. of what ever they have asked u get marks accordingly. If u overwrite u get a zero. So u are pretty much clueless as to how u are doing!! plus its a computer adaptive exam which means if u are doing well the difficulty of ur questions starts increasing, but if u aren't doing that good, u start getting simpler questions!!! Pretty confusing!! My first half went well, in the second half i got a lot of obs. cases. but like i said, u can't say how u did ....at least i wasn't able to say after my exam.... just kept my fingers crossed and answered Qs as best as i could and thankfully i passed!!!

Hi gollium and rest of the team, how is everyone doing?Where is everyone these days?I am still not able to overcome my studies. It is not just that my kids r home these days,I am just simply cursed or something.I wud be very lucky if I can do 50 questions from q book in whole day.I am seriously starting to feel that I am not going to come out of it.Beleive me I am trying. This is worst than S1.How are all of u doing.I am just doing q book these days.just lost my motivation, can't focus.Share urs so we motivate each other.I'll be starting UW from 1st of Apr.

Hello to everyone, are you guys meeting for a chat today? I want to join your group; I passed step 1 and was studding for step 2 for someitme now but didn't finish my 1 st reading. Hey, Hamidi, I am doing qbook too now, and I am on my 6th test of internal med. I have full time research, so 50 questions is all I can do somedays too. I hope it is still possible to get it over with at this pace. Well, let's hope for better. I also started ped a week ago by the way. It is much tougher than med. May be its better just to go over cases - I am not sure I can gain much from kaplan notes in this subject. They take a lot of motivation. Hope to see you all soon.

hi all, Hamidi, I guess the imp thing is to keep going; even if you do 50 qs a day, keep doing it and then try to push it to another 50 questions and i am sure you will soon get into the mood. Well, its strange for me to say this, when i myself haven't been doing much these days, but as you say, providing others with motivation helps us too. I too feel I am going at a slower pace than step 1 but then it could be just because we have now something for comparison! pvs77, welcome to the group. Go ahead and join the chat today evening. I am not sure yet whether i will get the time today for chat. hey cordmd and others, where have you disappeared bi, enjoy today's studying, gollum
