Thanks Manolok, but I really did'nt believe I would pass after my exam experience. In my opinion, there are 2 distinct components of this exam - knowledge is one - the other is the approach to it, and the management of it - which is where I bombed. I will be very grateful for any score I get - I think it'l be around 76-78 - I may have passed, but one cannot take an exam in a sleep deprived haze and do well (at least I can't). But I am so happy. Now lets go get the Step 2 tiger (as pinkangel has so aptly described it!!)

jaylike, welcome to the grp.U r doing fine .That is alot for aweek worth of studying. With this pace u'll definitly get done. UW..Pll use diff approaches.Personally I think it shud be done atleast after ur first reading if not 2nd.I am lso confused in thatregard. But I think I'll start it on apr 1st regard less of how many reading i have done.with my reading I am doing Kaplan Qbank qs. CMTD..I don't get that much time to syudy plus i read very slow so I have no intentions of reading CMTD.For me that wud be too much. But ppl read it and do very well.So do what u feel comfortable with. Happy studying.

Hi indiaxman, I am doing Psych these days.Kaplan q bank is good but ppl say it's easy.I am scoring arround 70% which might not be very good but hopefully I'll improve. This is my first reading. After that I'll do UW.or may be I'll do another reading and then UW.Let's see wat I end up doing.Do we need to do something from sep 1 too(like pharma etc).I hope not. It's been a while that I took S1 ,I don't remember much. How is ur studies going.

Ok , I'm back and have to really start hitting the books hard! Hi Hamidi, how are u doing?, what subject are u on now? I'm thinking of doing the Kaplan videos along with the lectures 'cos I really need to pull my score up on Step 2. Am doing psych right now. hi Jaylike, I asked the same q about q bank and UW and everyone does it differently. I thought I'm going to subscribe to Qbank and then subsequently UW as it'l help to cement everything together - what do u think Hamidi? Apparently. UW is a little harder than Kaplan, so one should do it 2x?

Hamidi, i just read your post and want to know about kaplan q bank...do u think a one month subscription is enough or should i take for 3 months..i am going to take USMLE world for 3 months but i am not sure if i should spend extra money on kaplan q bank ok then, happy studying everybody..i don't post regularly but must say its very encouraging to read these posts and know that there are so many people on the same boat bi,take care, gollum

Nice to hear from you - I think that if you're doing Kaplan side by side by studying then one needs 3 mths, but if you go thru stuff then take qbank for a mth, that should work? About ECG's - I bought ECG's made incredibly easy off ebay and its really too long. if u use CMDT as a reference when needed - it covers enough I think(I did a quick scan of the book), but as I'm also just starting prep would like to know if thats enuf? Anyone? Thx

Hey cordmd, I am doing Psych ,infact i shud finish is by tonight and then I'll do Qbank(for psych) if every thing does well.U know I am never sure wat the rest of the wud be like with kids.Hopefully I'll finish it tonight. Then I'll start Paeds.I think it is a good idea to do lecture.I did webpep for S1 and it was v good for my old rusty brain .It kept me motivated. Probably with my 2nd reading I'll do Kaplan highlights.I studied one year for S1 (off course with breaks sometime absolute nostudy periods for 1-2 mos),but for SK I am being too impatient.I just want to get done with it.I feel like I am rushing through my reading. I have a cfusion, didn't u pass ur test few day ago .Whay r u doing lectures now.Or was it S1 that u passed.I am sorry I am too airheaded  Anyway good luck for ur studies.

I read somewhere that motherhood does that! I'm a mom and thats my excuse!! I just passed Step 1 - am still waiting for the results, but have started studying for Step 2. Its slow starting and I find my concentration wanders, but i know I'l get there. How are u doing on the q's?

yeah u r right ,it's the motherood (not to mention old age i my case shhhh.... :-# )  wow u r v dedicated .I rested for 4nonths and 3 weeks after I took my step 1.Now I am getting my memory back, u r the one who was wondering if u shud start studying for step2 b4 getting ur result   It is amazing how many moms r studying for this test.It is so encouraging.Keep it up Gals(and boys). On my Q bank I am arround 70% .I was v happy about that till I read multiple posts that it is too easy, and ppl are scoring in 80s and 90 on it  In step 2 my score was 64% on qbank so in comparision I thought I wasdoing good but I guss it is just OK. FH and Shahan, How r u doing?

Well I have done the first reading of psych. Done most of it from BP, (the drugs are more detailed there, yes , we Have to remember pharma for that part) Done all the ethics and biostatistics from Kaplan. (Didn't have kaplan before that!) Anyway, just have done some 74 qs at the back of bp. Will do q-bank afterwards or should I do the Q-book subject by subject?? Want to start Gynae from tomorrow. Gosh I can't seem to balance my time b/w kids and studies. Don't know whats going on with me. Am keeping kaplan as primary source. (That means I have to reread surgery from kaplan, as I had read it from bp) In Gynae have done 8-9 chapters from BP. I think the first chapter of BP is very basic and should be read. In kaplan gynae starts from Genetics!! Shahnana where are u? So this is my story so far Hamidi

Hell guys, its taking me forever to get thru the medicine Kaplan book im about half way through ID, and have Rheuma, Nephro and Neuro. Then going to tackle OB. My plan of attack; 1. I take notes on the side and just jot down dx/rx of major diseases as a quick reference. I try not to right down stuff that's familiar because it'll take me forever to get through it. 2. Gave the UW q's a break, felt it too time consuming at this point and not helpful without reading the material first. will come back to it after 1st or 2nd reading. 3. Hope to read OB next, then Psych, Peds and SX 4. Then going to watch the step2 highlights video 5. last month, questions from q book, UW then q bnk, will take NBME a month before what do you think? is my order of subjects ok? plan? just curious what other strategies you guys have in mind and suggestions?

I think its a very good plan. I personally beleive that doing q's after reading everything at least once, starts to test our knowledge, not before that. I somehow start to remember the q's instead of the real theory inside if I do them early.

Manolok, sounds like a good plan to me IM takes the longest. After that u'll be going much faster. It is better to take some extra time and understand what u read than rushing to finish( unfortunatly that is wat I am doing these days). Doing questions after at least one rading makes more sense. But r u planning to do all (qbank, qbook and UW)in the last month.I think u should atleast keep a month for UW.Why don't u do rest of the questions while u'r reading.Just few every day.Just a suggestion.Good luck. :P Fh, U seem to be doing great. keep it up I am done with psych (reading) now I'll be doing Questions.Just came back afte mailing my form 183. ](*,) .One question, do u send one or two pictures with the form?
