All I can tell you is that if you don't try for a specialty that you like and interested in, then it will be a waste of your time, money and life. If you get it .. great, if you don't and someone with the same qualification and story as you does get the job...you will kick yourself for life. If you don't try you will never know. Good Luck.

Hey guys, It seems like you guys are also interested in Pathology like me. which year you are applying. Iserson's Getting into a Residency rates Pathology as 2. This books rates all the programs from a scale of 1 to 5. 5 being the toughest to get into. From number 2 , it does not seem that pathology is hard to get into. But when you check the program web sites, most of the programs have about 5 seats and they get 300 or so application, they interview about 60 candidates. After reading all that Patholgy seems more competitive than I tought. What are your thoughts..? Does any one have researches the Pathologist job market in US.?

I am also planning to get into a pathology program. For me, it's pathology or nothing else! From what I've heard pathology is becoming more popular among amg's which means it will be harder for fmg's. We would probably stand a higher chance if we aim for community hospital programs. My MD thesis was on a dermatopathology subject and my paper is accepted by a well known journal. I hope this will help me.

Hossein Hi! Good to see you I like your attitude -- patho or none, that's way to love future occupation. The paper will help you I think, the bigger the journal the better.
