TO COLLINS, RETROVIRIDIA AND EVERY BODY ELSE.....please dont neglect just because iam new to this forum.....
I had an interview recently with the program i wanted to get in.After sending thank you e-mail the chief resident send amail that iwas agood fit for the program ,after afew days later i received aletter signed by the PD and assistant PD that they really enjoyed my visit to thier program and that they consider as an excellent fit to the program and they would rank me high...after this icalled the PC and expressed my wish for a prematch with the program and she said to send an e-mail to the PD.I had send him an e-mail last week with no response so icalled the PC today and she said to talk to the PD direcltly tomorrow .Can any body give guidance what should i talk with him tomorrow ???would it appropiate to raise my interest for prematch as most of the positions go thruogh match.Iam still waiting for my step -2CS results and ireally want to get into this program.
please reply.any response is highly appreciated.

i asked a PC yesterday this very question.."I had a really great interview at another program a few weeks ago and they emailed me stating I would be a good fit for the program but I haven't heard from them since. ROL starts next week; would it be inappropriate to call and inquire about my status?" the PC's response: we are not supposed to say how we will rank you, but it happens..
my advice to you when you talk to the PD..be direct..some questions:
how are you doing in your selection process?
have you offered any positions outside the match?
realistically speaking, what are my chances of getting into your program?
then express once again whatever you'd like and remind him that you would be very much interested in a prematch offer, but don't sound too desperate..okay?

Thank you very much for the reply.Feel much confident now to talk to the PD.Sure iwill try my best not to sound desparate :? ihave very few interviews and this program is the best of all and moreover idid my observership here and have good LOR from the attendings do you think that this is going to help any way???Thank you again for apromt reply coz i really needed guidance regarding this.All the best for residency.

yes, those will definitely help you, and I hope the PD is well aware of your experience at that hospital as well as your LOR's..good luck with you..let us know when you get your prematch!!
