Scramble is a two day period during which unmatched candidates can contact unfilled programs and attempt to obtain a position...according to a program coordinator(and it makes a lot of sense), you have to interview in order to be considered for scramble.. the programs where i've interviewed will interview 130 applicants (out of 1200plus received through ERAS) for 10 positions.. even if they don't fill their positions, they have plenty more interviewed applicants from which to choose..lastly, this service to which you refer, why would you have to fax anything when the programs already have your information through ERAS?

then how do we know that there are some unfilled positions in a programme? can we call and ask the PD or can we find it in their web site or something like that? and how early u have to apply?

Thank you collins for the tips.I didnt recive my cs results yet.i want to know that if i fail in Cs can i still apply thrugh the scramble?I am not sure if i pass or fail.By the way, because of being short in time, abdnbeing late,I could just apply for 25 programs andso so many programs they dont have my information,so I need to submit the application for scrambl for unfilled positions.
please tell more about what will happen if I fail my cs.Can i be eligible for scramble or not??by the way,I dont know what documents we have to submit for scramble to the unfilled positions....Please give me some more information....i really appreciate any suggestion and oppoinin....Thanks

according to my source, scramble is basically the time when you call the programs where you've interviewed and say, "Hey, remember me?" I interviewed there and I haven't been matched. Perhaps you'd like to have another look at my application?" I don't see any harm in contacting programs where you've applied but didn't interview, but most likely, they would choose someone they already interviewed. Makes sense, doesn't it? If you fail your CS, you probably won't be offered a position, unfortunately. But there's a very high passing rate for CS, so don't think about failing. I've been told that people only fail CS if they have trouble communicating in English.

have you contacted any of the programs to check on your status? if you haven't, it will not hurt to phone them..by the way, a coordinator told me yesterday(and this is for anyone out there with a heavy accent) speak clearly on the phone when you call..she stated that if she can't understand you, she will not invite you for interview because most likely, the patients will not understand you either..also, do not get your spouses/relatives to call because you are afraid of your accent..she will simply tell them to have you(the applicant) call again.. anyway, you can call the programs and ask about your status..i honestly think i got my interview yesterday because i had had several pleasant conversations with the coordinator..i phoned before i applied, and phoned after to check on my status..and it's not too late, you may still get an interview..

to collins.I actually called to all the programs .some of them told me that their interview spots are filled so they no longer offer interview.
Some of them told that i applied very late for interview,so probably i dont have that chance to be interviewed.Any way,I left message for some of them that I could nt get in touch with them.I will try,but I want to know that is there any chance at all if I apply for scramble by faxing to the programs that I didnt apply at all?I mean do you know any body that applied just during scramble without applying in the match and still could get a position??
By the way,2 programs told that my year of graduation is more than 5 years ,so they mostly consider the people with less graduation years.
i have been graduated in 1992 from medical school but I went to OB/GYn and I fifnshed residency back home...It seems that for some programs it is not that important....cause I applied for OB/GYN....
By the way,is there any body who knows that how Kaiser OB/GYN programs are.My hope is just may be Kaiser who at least recived my application before the cut off....thank you for you great tips.
I am looking forward to hear form you.

most programs only accept applications through ERAS..i was told you must apply for match in order to scramble..sorry, but i have no good news for you..unfortunately, those who applied late either didn't get interviews, or got very few interviews because of the number of applicants that keep increasing every year.
