Hi everyone,

I thought I would start a prayer thread for those taking the USMLE 1 this month. I haven't seen one for January yet and I'm sure there are many of us who are planning on tackling this beast soon. Please list your exam date with your post so that others may pray for you on your big day.

It's a nondenominational thread - all faiths are welcome. I will start it off with a prayer of my own - please feel free to add your own to this thread.

I will be retaking the USMLE 1 on January 19, 2005.

Here is my prayer:

Dear Father God,

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to study the noble art of medicine in our lifetime. I pray that we may use this privilege to help heal the sick and wounded in this country who so desperately need caring and compassionate physicians. There are so many of us on this forum who are studying to become licensed physicians in the USA. Please bless each one of us with the courage, conviction, and discipline to pursue this goal with all the strength we have. May our daily studies glorify and please You as we strive to glorify You everyday in hospitals all over the USA and abroad.

As you said - "Do not be afraid" - help us to remember your words and find peace and comfort in the knowledge that you are with us every step of the way in this journey called life. Give courage to those who have doubts and fears, renew the faith and hope in those who suffer from family struggles and depression, please bless all of us on this forum who strive to pass these exams which test not only our medical knowledge, but our emotional strength as well.

Thank you for all my friends and colleagues on this forum, that we may help encourage each other in the fight to pass the USMLE and serve You as physicians in this country.

I pray all these things in Jesus' precious name
Amen.

Dear God Please help all of us in this forum who are striving to pass the USMLE test.
Prayer to St. Joseph of Cupertino for Students
O humble St. Joseph of Cupertino, singularly favored by God in the difficulties of study and the worries of examinations, implore the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds and aid our memory in the search of His truth and wisdom. help us especially in the decisive moments of examination, protecting us from that forgetfulness and disturbing anxiety which often accompany them, so that we may grow in knowledge, love and service of God from whom flows that wisdom which leads to eternal life. Amen.

Everyone, please give our fellow forum member zokorro the encouragement he needs to get through this dark period in his life. January is a month of new beginnings. I truly believe God has a plan for all of us, even though we may not understand it at the present time.

Here is my prayer:

Dear Father God,

You have given our friend zokorro the opportunity to study medicine in his lifetime because you have a plan for him. Although he doesn't see it now, You have given him the eyes to see that he needs to change aspects of his life in order to set upon the path which will glorify You as your servant on this earth. Please give him the peace and comfort that he so desperately seeks. You, the Great Physician, are the only one who can heal his wounds and restore hope in his soul. I pray that you guide him in his studies, give him encouragement through the people on this forum, and let him know that You are with him always. May he come to know you through his studies and one day realize the plan that you have set for him.

I pray all things in Jesus' precious name.
Amen

Best of luck pink!!!

Thanks everyone who prayed for me today. I felt all of your prayers as I drove to the testing center this morning. I truly believe prayer works and I know your prayers did today. Thanks Niti, Kiran, Samuel, Moc, Kerochi, and all my friends who wished me well on my big day. I will be praying for each of you when your time comes to enter the tiger's den.

Black Tulip - January 27th is a lucky day - the birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart - one of the musical geniuses of this lifetime. A random thought, but a pleasant one nonetheless. grin I will keep you in my prayers when you go to take your exam. Best of luck to you.

Love,
pinkangel

For other people taking exams this month, please don't be shy to post! This is a support forum and we're all in this together. Please share with us your exam date and a short prayer if you wish. I'd like to see more people posting on this thread. I truly believe in the power of prayer [-o<

I took the exam once again in october 2004 , , and failed I have truely been inspired by your story pinkangel. It has made me feel that Iam not alone. With God's help IAm sure you will succeed. I also send my prayers to all those taking their exams in January. I was given an inspirational book by a friend the author, is Joel OLsteen , who is a famous baptist preacher, Iam of different religion, but yet it has been very helpful to envision myself passing this exam. Sometimes we enter the test center believing we have already failed. Yet we need to take some time every day and see ourselves opening that envelope and finding a passing grade. Picture yourselves in scrubs and white coat , starting you residency. We need to have faith , regardless of our religion, not be afraid and take one day at a time. May GOd bless us all.

Thanks for posting Nico. I'm glad to hear that my story has inspired others not to give up or lose hope. I will keep you in my prayers. Please come back and post your exam day when the time comes. [-o<

Through my struggles in medical school and the past year, my faith in God has been tested so many times. Sometimes I was angry with Him - why me? Why can't I pass the exam so easily like the others?

Now I know the answers to those questions and my faith has been renewed. Stronger than ever. That is why I believe in the power of prayer.

Everyone, please don't be shy - I encourage you to post and share a prayer or a story here. We will pray for you.

God bless,
Pinkangel
