Howdy...
I would like to ask you Bugs, how is the self study going for you so far...because I am doing thesame thing, the couching courses and Kaplan they are just extremely expensive....so I you could share your experience so far of your self study...let me know...I am on thesame train...

i dont think i got ur point . i mean r u asking abt step2 , CS or step 3..coz im studying for step 3..n i have never joined coaching for either of steps except UW for CS. right now im busy applying to programs through scramble.no luck so far...i will start studying for for step 3 after this chaos is over. good luck

I havent got my result yet. I took my exam on 10th feb. I am checking oasis but it is not yet updated.
I am not busy in scramble, as i dont have my cs result yet.
How are you doing, and how is your prep going on??

Hi dev,
It seems that you are doing right. You are going to take UW one month before exam that is the right way i think. My suggestion is that dont get tense when you are doing uw, as it would be difficult than q-book. Try to grasp the concepts uw questions asking about.
In the end revise the high yield topics, read crush step 2. Take kap sim exam at least 2 weeks before exam. I didnt take NBME, but you can take it if you want to.

How is everything going on? I havent got my result yet. Tomorrow will be a chance and a little hope, time is imp now, but after tomorrow it doesnt matter whenever it comes ( just the passing result will be a thing that matters then).
A little hope for this yrs residency still exists!

I passed CS! I am checked just now and i got the same beautiful red page  i am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy and relieved ,....may everyone pass this exam.

i knew u would pass coz ur exam was far better than mine..all ur hard work paid off..sorry for replying late coz i was kinda busy......see now people can read our posts n benefit from it ...now u can go out get drunk n party hard..lol[ i know u dont drink] :lol:
well now u can apply wherever u want.....im done with this post match n scramble bullshit ..i will apply all over again in september hopefullu with better resume as well as step 3 scores......congrats once again...party now yipeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!

I was sick for last 3 days, thats why i didnt open my computer. Sorry for replying late.
I am feeling sooooooooo relaxed that I finally have passed all steps. In this exam we can not judge who did better, as we cant get scores . But the imp thing is that we are passed!
I can not apply for this yr either. So i will also apply for 2006.
Have you started your step 3prep. Are you planning to do externship?
I am thinking of both.

congrats once again...well like i said i would apply to programs all over again by september for 2006..may b we can share our list of programs..i would prefer IM n i know u want to go in for paeds..well like i said b4 who knows we might end up in same program....scary..lol
well im gonna buy 2 books online for step 3..one is strong medicine n other is crush the boards for step 3...n im gonna read kap notes for step 2 again..well right now im doing my crappy job as usual plus i go n observe one doctor in private clinic as i couldt get into any big hospital for externship or observership..everywhere u go , u need contacts otherwise im beginning to realise that as a foreigner its a lot more struggle :cry: well lemme know when do u plan to take step 3..coz im thinking of taking it around june/july so that i would have my result in hand b4 i apply all over again..good luck

how r u doing? im sure u r enjoying ur time now. well regarding step 3, im not gonna buy kap notes for step 3..im gonna study kap notes for step 2 plus i have CMDT plus i would buy crush for step 3 which everyone recommends. strong medicine is kinda a new book, very few people know abt it but i have heard good reviews from people who have used it. after reading then i would subscribe to UW n kap Q bank..hopefully i can study that much with my job n everything.
regarding ECFMG certificate, u dont have to do nothing. u must have recieved some kinda letter with ur CS result explaining to u abt ur ECFMG certificate status, coz if ur credentials r verified n u dont owe any money to ECFMG then u should get ur certificate in abt 2 weeks at the most.
yeah i think u r right, we should move to step 3 forum..lemme know when would u move to that forum.

Thanks for replying. I havent received anything from ECFMG with my CS result. So i should wait for 2 weeks for certificate.
How can i move to step 3 if i am not planning to take it? I dont like to study now  but i will prepare my self willing to take it soon.
I should at least order some stuff for step 3 now.

u sound lil disappointed..i hope everything is ok on ur side. well u cant take step 3 unless u have ur ecfmg certificate...i dunno y u didt get any letter concerning ecfmg certificate with ur CS.. ru sure that ur credentials have been verified by ecfmg..u can see that when u log into ur oasis account n then look under "medical education credentials" something like that...did u send ecfmg ur med school diploma n transcripts?? but u can surely study for step 3 n when u think u r ready u can apply for step 3..did u find any observership?? if u r gonna do residency in peds then u should look to work in peds hospital or under paediatrician so tht u can have US lor's..if u have already done residency in peds in ur home country then that might help too.well if u have any more questions feel free to ask..good luck.

before getting that certificate, once u have sent medical school release form etc.u will get a letter from ecfmg saying that they sent ur medical school diploma copy to ur college to verify.In my college somebody has to go check witha cademic section only then they verify and send it back to ecfmg.i hope all this process is over for u.
