Hi bugsbunny, It seems from your mail that you are anxious and confused. Dont do it! You will be fine and will do great! For draping, what i concluded is that do whatever requires least exposure. So if you want to do chest exam when pt is lying down. Do it. Lower the gown till half of chest or till axilla. Aus lungs and heart and raise the gown to its original position (ie to cover shoulders) now raise the gown from below, covering the abdomen with drape, and ask pt that you want to feel the pulsation of heart, ask her to lift, and then just check PMI. You are done! For your question regrding Depression: Thyroid, DTR, pulse, heart and lungs auscultation. DM: Add carotid bruit, PMI, distal pulses. LE exam is imp, if you have time do it on UE too. I practiced DM on my husband and I did all of it in little time. I think I did LE sens (sharp soft and pain, vibration and position sense), motor strength, reflexes. Aus heart and lungs real quick. Pulses and carotid bruit, these dont take lot of time. If time allows or if SP c/o UE symptom, do UE exam too. For oasis, I know, they send results on wed, and updated late wednesday or on thursday. Ok bugsbunny, just relax, and practice. Do whatever you feel correct, for draping. I dont know the correct method, i am just guessing, and i will do the same that i told you. If you find any authentic other method, let me know. Good luck, Sar.

Hi bugsbunny, You are right for backache, no need to add any thing. Thanks for correcting exam for DM. I thought vib and pos senses both decrease in DM. I will check it out. Oasis is not updated yet. Its thursday, if it doesnt update today, it will be next thursday! Let see! Best of luck, Sar.

You must check vibration and if you hane time also position sense in Pt with DM . Because these senses might be affected by peripheral neuropathy - large nerve fibers not just posterior spinal cord are also responsible for vibration and position sense . Sometimes Pt can have diminished vibration sense before he has diminished pinprick sensation (small fibers ) or c/o numbness or tingling .

Hello bugsbunny, Like you, i have been checking oasis for last 2 days. I cant focus on CS because of this checking. You should not be worried, your step 1 score is so good that i can tell you that you will definitely pass the exam, i cant tell about your ck score though, you know it better than me. I think you should go for an interview. Eras would be updated as soon as result would be out, so tell them it would take just one more week. Best of luck! Now my confusion is started, i am still not prepared for CS. Tell me, in this last week of exam how many cases are you practicing daily???? Ok bugsbunny, Good luck to you! Sar.

Hi bugsbunny, Yes it was a busy day, i enjoyed it! How did you spend your result day?? Now your question about Terminal cancer case. If they say (written on the door) that a pt with terminal cancer and they want us to councel, then the main task is to councel that SP, it is already a diagnosed case, we dont need to write d/ds for that. You have to read the doorway instructions to find out what they want us to do, and then do accordingly. Now your other question about pamhugsfoss in the same case. You read that case carefully they have covered all pamhugsfoss, they just not given it by heading! If they have not asked something, it means that was not imp for this case. I hope you are clear now. Best of luck! Sar.

Hi bugsbunny, Its good that i have cleared your confusion. I have a question that i always forget to ask...do you get scheduling permit for cs by post or just in email?? I got it in email and have printed it. I also printed the confirmation date, also got online. I didnt get anyhting for cs, by post. What about yours? Is chivas regal your name?? I think i should think about extending the date too, not sure yet. I might get score tomorrow, will let you know! Have a good prep! Sar.

Hi bugsbunny, I didnt get my score today, either. You may ask your program director for finding your score, although you will get it in few days. I didnt study for many days. Now i am worried when are you leaving for Baltimore? Good luck for your interview. Weather is not so good on the east coast. Have a safe trip to baltimore! Best wishes, Sar.

Hi bugsbunny, I think your program coordinator will understand the problem. They should take your interview after your exam, on any weekday. Talk to them, somtimes they are very considerate. These things happen all the time in life, dont be depressed. You will get a good chance next time. Yes i am also expecting score today. Let see! I am thinking of extending exam date. not sure yet. what do you think. I have posted a question for 2bmd, if you have answer for that, please reply me. Best of luck! Sar.

hi bugsbunny, I got my score I am happy for my score. But this forums standard is in 90s. I am happy with what i got, as I was expecting score of 75 - 79 but I got 85/208............so happy to get it and soooooooooooooooooo Thankful to GOD! I am sure yours would be in upper 90s! I was asking about the last min councelling. When I will explain the pt (after history and PE) that "I need to run some tests to find out what exactly the prob is. What I have found out from your history" (then i will tell him some history points that you have this so and so) then I will say "I found out from your PE that you have pain in so and so part of your abd" at this point how would i tell him about Psoas sign and obturator sign, I think i should say that "I examined you and did some tests and I find that you have pain on flexion of hip" etc "so you might have appendix infection or it could be something else" What do you think?? Tell me are these laymans language?? Blood vessels, swelling, hemorrhage, syncope, dizziness. How would you explain CT scan?? If we forget somepoints to ask during history taking, and then it comes in our mind during PE, can we ask them at that time ??(during PE??) If not this yr, you will get a residency of your choice next yr, as you have good score. So you right to get over it and start any job till residency. Thanks for giving me a good suggestion. I will try to do as much as i can for my cs prep. Best of luck for your score! Sar.

Congratulations on passing Step 2CK . Good luck for CS . It is hard to say what the SPs consider the layman language . But you might use "bleeding" instead of hemorrhage , loss of cosciousness instead of syncope . Dizziness should be fine . CT scan - series of detailed (x-ray) pictures of your body or brain . You can certainly ask something you have forgotten before during the PE .
