Dear bbb or anybody who can help ,

I am an IMG in middle east (Dubai) . I'm very interested in your advice .What is your idea about :

1- US experience : Is it mandatory for IMGs to have US experience before entering to residency ? if yes , what kind of experience ? only practice or observership also ?

2- Letter of recommendation : Who should be the writer ? only an American doctor in US ? Can it be writen by a faculty member of my medical school in my country ?

3-Research: Howmuch does it help ? what kind of ? only published paper or any kind of participation in research ?

thanks ,
Happy new year !

1. Not all programs require US experience.

2. LORs can be written by anyone who really, really knows your and your work.

3. Clinical Research or Bench research? Published would help, but not guarantee.

Thank you so much for your help , but another question :

There is an American hospital in Dubai which is very famous here and all of it's doctors have educated in US . If I have a period of observership in that hospital ,will it be considered as US experience ? Howmuch does it make a difference ? Do you recommend it ?
