Drug of choice for eclamptic seizures?

  #2

It could be MgSO4 or Diazepam

Well. the drug of choice would be Magnesium Sulphate as you mentioned.
however, use of diazepam for seizures before the delivery is not recommended because diazepam is not as safe in pregnancy. yet if the seizures happen postpartum, then diazepam would be as good in controlling the attacks. during an eclamptic seizure the profound vasospasm in the mother can endanger the health of fetus by cutting off the blood supply to the the uterus. one of the other advantages of Mgso4 is that it can increase the uteroplacental blood flow as well as controlling the seizures.
