Hi friends!
I have taken my exam on 22nd dec. I dont know how i did, i am not sure, but i am writing you just to fulfil my duty. I learned from others experiences and i want to tell you my experience.
I studied kap notes, usmle world q bank. I used kap q bank, kap sim exam, q book, and usmle cd.
Usmle world questions were hard, but it covered most of the topics that came in my exam. So its a good learning and practice tool, and you will find your exam easier. I was familiar with nearly all the topics covered in my exam but the main thing is how I did on that day, I forgot many things and took help with guessing. Thats why I am not sure about my performance, but I can tell you that master all the concepts covered in Usmle world q bank, kap q bank, and usmle cd. You will be fine if you do these sources plus your notes. I also did kap q bank, and kap q book (not completed).
Kap notes were more than enough (for my exam). Crush is a good book. I did ophthalmology and derma questions with the help of Crush. For my exam, Crush was enough for opthalmology and derma. I used crush in last days, for revision.
I did first 3 blocks then took 20 min break, then 2 blocks, 15 min break, then 1 block, 10 min break, 1 block, 10 min, final block 5 min left for survey that i skipped.
Time management (for completing 46 ques in one hour) was a problem for me, (as it was in step one). For you it might not be a problem.
My exam format was prometrics (old one) not the new MBME format.
Conclusion:
Master whatever you study ( so that you dont have to make a guess). Good luck everyone!

how much time does first reading take?

Dr shabs, I had 3 months and 22 days. I started from Kap q-bank, did it in one month, then I took usmleworld for 60 days and last 11 days i did kap q book, kap sim exam and usmle cd.
I started q bank plus reading notes. Daily, i just gave a quick reading to notes and then did questions with explanations. I put more effort and emphasis on questions. By doing questions i had a better idea of what could be asked and how it would be asked in the exam, plus i can retain more thru questions.
I have told you my strategy, it was working for me, (I dont know it worked well or not, i can tell you after result). Now its up to you, do whatever works well for you, whatever is convenient for you. Doing questions is very important.

hi,i finshed my step 1.got low score in that 87.i have now started studying fo rmy step 2. with kaplan notes.i have to get better score in step 2 ,so please advise me how to prep for my step 2.i am planning to give the exam in april end.

thanks a lot for ur experience,i really feel confident now,i havent yet booked the date for my exam,most probably i will be taking it in end of March or beginning of April.

Sorry for a late reply!
Your step one score is not bad and you will get a good score in step 2!
You have asked me about how to prepare for step 2. I can tell you this confidently after getting my result. But at this stage all i know is what i did for my prep. I dont know whether it was a correct strategy or not.
Anyways, my advice for you is to do as much questions as you can from the beginning, from now till exam. You have a lot of time to prepare. You can start by giving a quick first reading of kap notes plus q book or any other source of questions, if you have a cd of questions etc etc. As you have time, you can take online q banks (like usmle world and/or kaplans q bank) later (after reading notes). I didnt have time so I decided to do questions plus notes together.
