Hello friends,
In the kaplan ,it is given that aldosterone decreases in 17 hydroxylase deficeincy.
can anyone explain that to me please???

I think it has to do with these reasons:

1)Excess ACTH causes adrenal hyperplasia.
2)**Paradoxically 11 deoxycorticosterone just becomes more profound.
3)A rise in BP has been caused/so there is less renin and angiotensin II
(remember this is a potent stimulator of aldosterone)

4)Eventuallly aldosterone is decreased and you have shut down of the zona glomerulosa!
Hope this heps

5)Addendum-Even easier:
Increase BP  decrease Renin  decreaseAngioII  decrease aldosterone
