Hello friends, In the kaplan ,it is given that aldosterone decreases in 17 hydroxylase deficeincy. can anyone explain that to me please??? :roll:

I think it has to do with these reasons: 1)Excess ACTH causes adrenal hyperplasia. 2)**Paradoxically 11 deoxycorticosterone just becomes more profound. 3)A rise in BP has been caused/so there is less renin and angiotensin II (remember this is a potent stimulator of aldosterone) 4)Eventuallly aldosterone is decreased and you have shut down of the zona glomerulosa! Hope this heps 5)Addendum-Even easier: Increase BP :arrow: decrease Renin :arrow: decreaseAngioII :arrow: decrease aldosterone
