what is the antibiotic of choice for pneumococcal pneumonia and the antibiotic of choice for pneumococcal meningitis

but I read in biocards( 2002)and in Qbank that: pneumo.pneumonia use penicilineG as the first line and cephalosporins if resistance pneumo.meningitis:vancomycin

We basically agree, its just that if someone is penn allergic maybe 15 or 20% will be cross allergic to the cephalosprin. Thats why my 2nd choice is a completely different category.
