Hi, muryum77! I am also an IMG on F2 visa (husband is a student), got 96 in step 1, prepairing for step 2. Would you be so kind to tell me if you have any us clinical experience and if so, how did you get it (they won't even accept my application since they require a SSN)? Thanks in advance and goodluck with everything!

dear red head, i have taken step 1 and 2 ck..also the step 2 cs.no one asked me for a ssn at any time.you do not need it at any time. i have no clinical experience in usa ..i have been busy dealing with these exams and now studying for the step 3. just apply online and send the form 183 by mail after getting it notorized from any bank.all you need is your passport which would be your form of identification. ssn is not needed at anytime.if you have any questions at any time i will be glad to help. if you want an observership you can go to any program director , tell him/ her your interest and status and you can get some experience like that. however i would suggest that you concentrate on step 2 and while you are awaiting results then you should go for an observership. no ssn is needed for this too. good luck. muryum77.

Dear muryum77, Thank you for your prompt reply; I will do as advised. My husband is doing the asking around for me so I can start by the time I am done with my exams (still have CS on march, 17 and CK later). My concern was only that they required SSN for any voluntary work, so they could check your background. Do you know people that did voluntary work or observership without being asked for it? Thank you and keep up the good work.

dear red head, you can get your observership only if you yourself show interest and a good score on step 1 and 2 would definitely give you a good impression to start with. i have two friends who are doing observerships in different programs and both are without their ssn's. you will have to go and show interest yourself.but i would again strongly advise that you concentrate right now on your upcoming exams...good luck for those.once you are done with those and good results too it will be very easy to get an observership. YOU WILL HAVE TO MEET THE PD YOURSELF THOUGH. good luck.....i hope everything goes vey well for you. muryum77
