Hi Bebu U've a very impressive list of hospitals. Hope u get into a program of your choice. What kind of US clinical experience did u've??? was is in a university hospital.???I'm really scared about the match this time and would follow any sincere advice regarding USCE.I'd really appreciate if u could give me any input about university of Iowa and University of Columbia, Missouri as I have got invitations from them aswell... Thank you Bye..

Hi Doc 2378 Thank you for the input. I was looking for university of Iowa hospitals ans clinic. My credentials are 99/99/passed CS/ECFMG certified, 5 months USCE, one US LOR waiting to give step3 late in January. With these credentials I had expected decent # of interviews but I got only 9, only 5 university.. mabbe my H1 b visa requirement has something to do with this or my late application(late september). wish u good luck.... bye

HI Hunt.... I did my USCE in a community affiliated ( 1 mo) and in a University one (2 mo both as a medical student...few years ago...!. I got excellent recommendation letters from them...actually I think thats the main reason I have many interviews are because of my LOR's ,more than scores... About your questions about U Missouri...its a good university program...medium size...with excellent enviroment...It's really nice!.. About Iowa University Hospital and Clinics.. I.dont know much about the program I have my interview at the end of the month...i will tell you then!! hope this helps... bye...and merry Xmas and happy new year for all of you!!

To msjk(shyam) to honestly tell you I am really surprised! You have perfect scores, new grad, certified.....I would have assumed that you would have got interviews at even extremally competitive programs???You have the right qualifications to get into fellowship and into a university high-tier program!I think it must be the USCE that held you back(or maybe if you applied late???) From your list I would think that RGH and Roger William are the best. Sinai/Baltimore and Lincoln from what I've read and been told are not really good programs. And in a way will put you at a disadvantage if you want to join there. If you decide to wait till next year and get more USCE......in the long term it will do you more good as you can enter very competitive university program by waiting out a year and in the long run be beneficial to your future career to do fellowship.

hey veer zaara....thanks man. i really appreciate that advice from you.in fact my next plan of action is to apply next year if i dont match in rochester. but i had been to roger williams and the program is a small one with no fellowships or research rotations offered. the only positive point i felt about the program was the availability of hem/onc lab which is the only stem cell transplant center in the whole of the state. so it would be appropriate for someone who wanted hem onc fellowship. i think u r right with the usce. unfortunately i dont know any doctors in the u.s. i am pretty much by myself in searching for a place to get some usce. but i thank you for ur reply Shyam.

I am an IMG form Panama (Latin America). Graduated in 2004. Passed Step 1 with 92/228, aiming for 95+ for Step 2 in June and planning Step 2 CS for July. No USCE, no US LORs and need visa. Languages: spanish, english and chinese. How much possible is it for an IMG like me to get a resideny in anesthesiology in Florida? or at least a priliminary year in IM?

esmeralda: Thank you for sharing your experience with us. But I am a little shocked to learn you did not get matched this year. Your have 99/95 very high scores, externship, all seem to be perfect. Do you need them to sponsor H1? There are indeed limited numbers of hospitals offering H1. And maybe it is good to apply some FP. IM is competitive. Did not realize psychiatry is becoming hot too. I sincerely hope you will have much better luck next year.
