IS DNA TOPOISOMERASE -1 SAME AS HELICASE, I KNOW DNZ TOPOISOMERASE -2 IS ALSO CALLED DNA GYRASE SO IS DNA TOPOISOMERASE -1 SAME AS HELICASE? :?:

no they are not the same . dna a protien : recognises AT rich bases pairs in the origin of replication single strand binding protien: keeps the two strands seperated helicase: the only one requiring ATP keeps the replication fork intact during replication preventing reanneling of strands THESE ENZYMES ARE REQUIRED FOR REPLICATION. TOPOISOMERASES : these correct the supercoiling caused during replication of the strand beyond the replication fork. TOPOISOMERASE 1 ; has both ligases and endonuclease activity TOPOISOMERASE 2 : IS DNA GYRASE ( IN BACTERIA) on which quinolones act. hope this helps
