This is my opnion, not what you should do.

Aside from that the fact that you'd prob have to dish out even more cash.

Are you medical student now? or an IMG in the sense that you just need to pass the boards to apply for a residency in the US?

If you're a medical student now, then delaying that test even longer will make the 2006 match hard, as I understand it. Althought there can be a ton of variables.

Secondly, I think you should stick to your guns. It doesn't help to keep pushing a deadline back. I think if you keep this going back longer and longer, you might see your scores drop some even.

but in the end, you're really the only person who can answer this question.

might want to see what your nbme 2 score is and judge where you're at now.

I wanted to write a brief note. I was in a similar situation as you were. Read my exam experience:

I would say you are reading Kaplan for the 3rd time. You should be able to get through the books by the end of Dec. I agree with lmbebo in that it is not good to keep pushing back your test. Of course, I did that multiple times myself. I know you want to save form 2, so what I would advise is that you keep studying full throttle until a couple days before your testing date. Take form 2 and see. I bet you will do much better. I can tell you that I took the NBME 4 days before my step II and got 530. Was able to read through my Kaplan notes one more time before my test and got a 99 on step II. For step I I got a 570 on the NBME and got a 98. So for me at least, I scores higher on the real test than the NBME said I would. Reading your notes one more time also significantly raises your scores. So since it has been 1 month since your last test, I bet yo will have a much better score now.

As said above, only you can make this decision. There is a lot to be said to saving money and sticking to your date (did you know your transcript will reflect that you paid for but did not sit your test?). That having been said, getting a good score is important for getting a residency. You also have time to spare for the 2006 match. Take form II and see how you do right before the test. If you decide not to take it, you will not lose anything for not cancelling it earlier.

Good luck!
