hi simi and shweta, its nice that v group together, study and motivate each other. since v all have started , v will continue and try and finish the subject by december end. from jan v will have a schedule to do in common. i would prefer making timetable from backwards, i mean v shall pick a date say june 15 immeterial of whether v give the exam on same date or not, v will make timetable assuming the exam to be on that date , in that way i think v can make every day count. and also during this december i think it would be nice if v could keep in touch with eachother studying, that might act as an whipping factor for us and compel us to finish the subject in time.this is once again my vague idea, and am looking forward for ur suggestions. cheers hamsa

Hi simi, Sorry for the late reply, I was busy for the last couple of days, it was nice to c ur response, u were very encouraging and also good that ur studying well, keep going. My studies is hopping, I mean if I study seriously one day then I land up taking break for 3 days, hopefully I will pick up the pace, however I have decided to finish anat0my by mth end, so far I have done embryology and am towards the end of gross anatomy. Irrespective of me finishing it or not, v will start fresh schedule from jan. I am studying anatomy from Kaplan notes (2002) edition (thanks to a friend who lend me hers)and also from high yield anatomy. U must be doing respiration now right ? how is it going with u and what books r u reading from ? Anyways happy studying, I will also pick up the pace. Hi deepa, dinasour, shweta, Its great that v group together and study, very soon we will make a timetable, meanwhile if u guys have any suggestions to make , then please feel free, happy studying With regards hamsa

hi friends, first of all wish u all a very very happy and prosperous new year, well i couldnot get back in the very begining of jan. i thought i will finish anat in dec, but then as usual, i landed up not being serious, wasting a lot of time and ultimately not making it . i have to yet read histology. thats part of my story, i am sure u all were lot more serious, simi must have finishd physio right? anyways, i have drawn a rough schedule i dont know how good it is, i request u all to put ur suggestions into it. its like, if v go from backwards and keep june 30 th as last date, then 1)whole of june --------for question bank 2)april and may-----------for revising the reviews (2nd reading) and also doing questionnaires , i dont know about thesource,u guys can suggest 3)jan to march ------------that is 3 mths for giving all the 7 subjects + molecular biology first reading. so that means, v will have 90days to do 7 subjects. in that jan 1 to jan 15 -----------physiology jan15 to jan 30-----------patho jan31 to feb14--------microbio feb14 to march2-------biochem march2 to march 12----- pharmac march12 to march 22--------anatomy march 22 to march 31--------behavioural science + molecular biology. this looks like a very tight schedule to me, giving 15 days each for first 4 subjects and then 10 days each for other 3. and i have already lost 3 days for the first subject. well , this is my rough schedule, i cant judge as how good or bad it is, i want to give it a try like this, and i am looking forward for all of ur suggestions. happy new year to all of u once again with regards hamsa

hi hamsa, thank u so much for u wishes...and i wish u the same...may u have a wonderful year ahead and may all ur dreams come true. i am sorry for the late reply....actually my computer crashed due to some problem and i had no internet access.since 10 days..i was also a bit busy with friends n all in the holidays....today i came to library..i liked ur schedule hamsa. it is a tight schedule....but we shall try to stick to it....but i was wondering if 15 days r sufficient for physio n patho coz they r vast...i also could not finish physio...so many disractions in holidays isn't it?i still have to do cardiac muscle, respiration, acid base disturbances and gastrointestinal physiology....soo much to do...i was studying on n off in december but i hope to stick to my schedule in the new year.i want to give a break to physio for the moment as i was studying it since one month on n off..now ..according to the schedule the first subject is physio ...but..since i have done some of the physio i will do anatomy..i just started yesterday..hope to finish it in 10 days...lets see what happens...what r u doing in physio .hamsa?and how r u planning to study..like r u just doing the chapter reading or doing the questions as well? and one more thing hamsa...how about doing biochemistry in the place of patho...some how while reading physio i felt that we should have a good command on biochemistry to understand any subject....well its just my personnel opinion...and in the second reading we can club physio n patho....what do u say? ok i am going to start my studies now...by the way,,hamsa....did u do questions in anatomy...if yes can u tell me the resources. hopefully i will come to the library tomorrow..as it may take one more week to get internet access at home. happy studying cheers.

Hi simi, Its very nice to c ur reply. U know what initially I thought 6 mths is quiet some time, can easily prepare etc. But then when I sat down to make a schedule , I was lost. I mean I dint know how to do it , I wanted enough time to do q banks, and then I wanted to revise also etc . some how time seemed to be very less. so this is what I made finally. Believe me this schedule scared me also, I mean its very tight schedule. U know what probably this should act as an whipping factor to help us study seriously, away from distractions. At the best is v will give it a try and see if v can do it, if not then v can change it. But then v have to be committed , believe me, inspite of this sometimes there is lack of seriousness when I am reading, I do topics very leisurely at my own pace. I just hope I can finish it on time. Right now I have done cvs, I have lot more to do like lungs, gi, renals etc. How is it going with u . I have not done questions in anat. I had mentioned right, I landed up wasting a lot of time and ultimately did not finish anat. I have to do lowerlimbs, pelvic organs and then histology. If u ask me , I would suggest u to read head and neck , and neuroanat first. Bcoz neuroanat seemed to be a very high yield topic, and if u r done with it , its like u r done with a major part in anat. And simi , I am doing it from Kaplan lecture notes, 2002 . so I only do the review questions at the end of the each chap, otherwise have not done any other questions. Its fine with me to do biochem , after physio. We will do that. I hope u r studying well Happy studying with regars hamsa

hey hamsa, it is good that u have finished physiology in time....that was very inspiring for me. i am still doing gross anatomy along with embrology..i will complete lowerlimb and start upper linb today and planning to finish it.but somehow i am not satisfied coz i am not doing any questions in anatomy..just doing chapters...i don't know how far is it good...i desperatly feel like doing mcqs in anatomy...but not sure about mcqs resources...some of the forum friends have suggested other books like first aid and high yield...i am planning to buy first aid but still thinking about high yield...any advice regarding this??? u have made a good decision to study anatomy now..then we can start biochem. happy studying cheers

hi simi, about doing mcqs, i only did the review questions in kaplanlecture notes at the end of each chapter otherwise i dint do any. and u know what i feel since this is first reading v r giving, the whole idea is to understand and get the concept right. then in april and may we will do revision and simultaneously do the questions also, then we can memorize and reinforce these concepts. about first aid, i feel this is important , i mean he gives high yield topics so u can concentrate on those subjects and also few great neumonics, makes thinghs easier to read, and about high yield anatomy books, actually i had bought both gross anat and neuroanat. and for neuroanatomy i felt kaplan notes are enough, he has presented it very well, so i dint do neuroanat from highyield at all, then for gross anat, high yield book is good , i mean i feel he has lot more information than kaplan lecture notes, but only thingh is i dont know how significant these r bcoz as i have not done mcqs right. anyways, buy first aid its important, and then see if u want to take highyield gross anat, bcoz by now u must have completed more than half of gross anat right. so think about it. otherwise happy studying, i will also start doing anat with regards hamsa

hi hamsa, thanks for the advice ..it was of a great help.i have decided to take high yield gross n neuro..somehow i am not satisfied with kaplan only...is the 2001 edition for gross the latest one.?and what about embryo...i am planning to buy that also...yes...i have finished half of gross ....but i think i will manage. i also did the same thing..that is did the mcqs at the back of the chapters in physiology...but in anatomy there r no questions at the end of the chapters....in physiology i came to know the way they ask . i was browsing n i came across some usmle anatomy question and i could'nt answer it...they were asking about surfaces of spleen...i read spleen but did not concentrate on surfaces...and it was not there in kaplan...and i think we cannot go through some high anatomy text book in deatail at this moment ..isn't it?and it has been qiute a while that we r not in touch with basic sciences...so all this panic started yesterday. anyway i cannot go on wasting my time thinking about books...sometimes i think that i am thinking too much but again i feel this is the only time where v can read in detail...i mean first reading...second reading will be a revision.anyway we will do lots of mcqs in the second reading. ok then talk to u later , cheers
