Hello amz

I'm from Mexico City, I took my first step in apr 2004, i was lost when i first started studying because i didn;t have a clue where to start of what references to use...so I satarted to studying from the Harrison paying attention to the physiopathology and after 3 months I found this web site. I wanted to die because all the books they mention here, so I bought some of the high yield text books, and I was left with only 2 months for the day of my test...I found out that the fist aid is like the bible,..the test has lot of quest from there...memorize all the figures an tables and you will pass...like i did!. I took step 2 in aug and also passed and step 2 cs in nov and waiting for results...i will give you an advice..if you want to apply for the match next year try to get som USCE (US clinical experience) since the LORs from US doctors are very important. I didn't know that and my application for the match 2005 was poor bs of that. Any way i got a good feeling with one of the prog i've interviewed and thanks to a doctor I'm working with now (as her Medical Assistant) i got another interview for a IM program..hopefully you will have the best of the luck.!!

Hello Roc,

Thank you for sharing your experience here, I am an Old IMG and I work for a doctor as a medical assistant too now, and I was wondering that if you can me what to start read for the first step cause I have no idea what books to use for the step 1.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Try Kaplan Home Study Program. Then Qbank a month before the exam and you are done. I did it and got great scores.

Well , certainly you can study from a lot of different resources out there, i didn't take the Kaplan bs of the high prices, so I studied from the board reviews series, high yield series and the first aid. For me the BRS of pathology, and behavioral sciences were of great help. I think that the best advice here is study, study and more study. Wish you all the luck
