Hi retroviridae! I have been reading some of your postings which made me conclude that you are a well informed person as long as the match, residency and .... are concerned.I just want to ask you something which I posted it somewhere in this forum but couldn't get anybody to answer it. I am planning to go for the 2006 match.Have written step 2.I have the step1,csa and step 3 to go.So, my question is when is the latest time that I should take my csa so that I would be able to take step 3 in time to get an H1 visa. If I take the csa by mid augst 2005,would I be able to do everything necessary to get an H1 visa on time?? And when am I supposed to have my step 3 results at hand to be considered for H1 visa??By the time of interview?? By match??Or By the time I apply for residency?? Do you think taking csa by mid augst 2005 would make me late to get to the 2006 residency on an H1 visa??(Hoping that, next year the ECFMG will release the csa results on time). Thank you ni advance!

OK, first off, I am not doing my step III before my internship, so I really haven't researched how long that takes. I think since it is an NBME exam, the results should be out 4-6 weeks after you took the test. How long it takes for a state to sponsor you I don't have a clue. In general, I would say you should have all your testing done by the time programs can access your application (Sept of 2005 for you). At the latest, have your test results in by the begining of October. Programs really like to see all your ducks in a row before even interviewing you. That having been said, I think with great step I and step II scores, you should get interviews even if step III is not reported yet. Don't worry about Step II CS being late. That is only happening now because it is a new test. Sorry but I don't know too much about step III
