hi PM&R_dude

thanks for replying..
i have only 12 weeks for preparation so i think ur strategy will help me.
cmdt is 'current medical diagnosis and treatment.'
some people have found it useful but i guess it requires more time.
since i have limited time i dont think i can use it fully..how soon do u think i can signup for the online q banks..i want to take my exam in early april.

also ,i have heard a lot about the blue print series..do u have any idea about them?

all the best for ur future plans

jana

Hi Jana,

No, I do not have any experience with the Blue Print series as well. Kaplan, takes a lot of time so with only 12 weeks that will be a lot of work if you also want to maximize First Aid and Crush also.

Thanks for the wishing good luck. Step 2 must be important to the program directors, cuz as soon as my scores were released the interview invites really started to come in. Good luck to you as well

Hi Mitsili,

I got my Kaplan noted from E-bay a couple of years ago. Maybe try a Google search or E-Bay. I would send you mine but my buddy already claimed them...there should be some out there. I will search and if I find some I will notify you. Good luck

Yes, my Kaplan notes were 2002

dear, in 2002 internal medicine kaplan notes i found out in rheumatology chapter in vasculitis there is tables containing wegeners granulomatosis and polyarteritis and table contaain temporal arteritis in this tables nothing written under treatment ,diagnosi ,are this missing items or what if u can help me i ll appreciate it

  #37

Dear Deals,

There are many blank sections in the Kaplan notes, which I believe are there to encourage people from not using the notes without attending their seminar/lectures series. The more important thing is to know that they believe that the material is important and the information may be easily found in your other guides, such as First Aid or others.

Hope that helps...I found the say thing kinda frustrating at first as well.

Good luck

Hi,
I think your exam experince ,good score and nice advice are a tremendous help for me . I have started to study for step 2 for couple of weeks . As you mentioned to go through the kapalan note and kaplan qbank simultaneously ; I have been doing also like that .I am doiing kaplan q bank subject wise while reading internal medicine from kaplan note . Getting very low score in kaplan qbank . whats your experience about kaplan q bank scoring while u were solving it simultaneously with studing the kaplan notes , I mean before even completing reading the kaplan note at least for one time .My kaplan q bank score is 60 percent .Probably it will incresae after i complete reading the kaplan note at least for one time . Whats your opinion ??? please advice me .

Thanks in advance.

Hi Ansar,

My Q-bank score were very high for some reason. I even did Q-Bank questions before I started studying and they were in the upper 70's. I found them very straight forward. However, on the other hand, my USMLE WORLD scores were very low...like mid-fifties and sometimes even lower to start with.

It may just be personal preference of question style because they are markedly different...and the real exam lies somewhere inbetween.

Also, I started studying for part II right after Part I so the material was very fresh in my mind.

Good luck...let me know what I can do to help.

Hi Patricia,

Sorry so late, I have been so out of town and just frankly not checking up on things. TO answer your question, no I have not heard anything about the masters program. If I can be of any further help, please let me know by private message so my e-mail alerts me that I have a message.

Good luck

Hey PM&R_dude,

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I failed Step 2 three times, and finally managed to pass with a 206/84 this time.

Since you did so super, I was wondering if you had heard any great advice for Step 3, or had advice for improving my score on the multiple-choice portion? Thanks!

Holy Moly...good job hanging in there for your exams!!! What tenacity. I have not started studying for step III yet. As a matter of fact, today was the first day that I have looked into the matter. As far as advice, I stick with the same philosophy I have throughout school and these exams...Find a few good resources and stick to them. I do not have too many as that would tend to confuse me. Kaplan and First Aid have not let me down yet. Then, it is the same ole thing. "Early to bed, early to rise study like hell and memorize"

So, in short. I will probably look into Kaplan material, First Aid and USMLE WORLD.

Good luck...I will let you know if I find out any better formula.

Howdy,

I am sorry it takes me so long to reply...I have been out of town so often lately.

In reference to your question about long stems to questions. Well, I have always been quite brisk in my test taking pace and have found the exams to be a bit challenging as well. I have not run out of time on any exam so far. I was very concerned that I would so I practiced 42 question blocks and paced myself with USMLE World (as their questions seem to be very long as well). This repetition gave me a feel of how fast I needed to be for the real exam.

As always the SAID principle applies (Specific Adaptation to Implied Demand)...therefore, the age old adage of PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE as always holds true.

Good luck

Hi
and thanks for your advice
u know i failed step 2 ck( i received my results one month ago and i couldn't believe it i had tried and practice a lot of questions of course not in an exam simulated way to sit down for 9 hours and practice it and i studied kaplan q book and q bank nms qs 1st aid and all the blue prints in the exam i had a problem that i couldn't finish each block completely and 6 to 5 qs always left blank after exam i wondered myself why i repeated the same silly mistake that i knew it was not right but it repeated for all the blocks
just going back and start again was hard because i do not know from what point i need to start . i started to sit for 5 hours and just do qs as welll as i am working too
i need to leave now
i really need somebody tells mev what was my weak point
