hi .. i have a doubt abt hypercalcemia in lung cancer .. which tumor cozes what .. small cell or SCC ... the correlation of hypercalcemia between PTH like peptide and the osteolytic lesions cozing an elevated ca level ..

Well rajeev..............Here u go with lung cancers.......
types.......1.Squamous cell ca.
2. Small cell ca.
3.Large cell ca.
4.Adeno ca.(includes bronchioalveolar ca.)
1 and 2 r centrally located in the lung. 3 and 4 r peripherally located.
Squamous cell ca. is associated with secretion of PTH-like substance and leads to hypercalcemia.
Small cell ca. is associated with Eaton-Lambert syndrome, SIADH, and other paraneoplastic syndromes. Also associated with vena caval obstruction syndrome.... grin grin

Small cell carcinoma: ACTH, ADH

it secretes alpha hydroxylase :arrow: hypervitaminosis D :arrow: hypercalcemia :!:
