It may not be as negative as it appears: Since you only mentioned HBs Ag Ill work with that" 1)HBsAg appear before symptoms and even befor the elavated transaminase. Its noninfective. It perersist for up to 4 months, its the first marker to arrive and the last to leave-* Its possible that you may recover if it disappears before 6 months. (Otherwise its chronic or carrier state) 2)Since you said nothing about e antigen or HBV-DNA I cant comment on those. 3)Anti- HBs is detected 1-4 months after disappearnace of HBsAg and is protective to future infection(and the only marker of immunization) 4)Anti-HBe indicates HBeAg is decreased or absent and is and indicator of possible recovery in HBsAg andHBeAg chronic Hepatitis. 5)Chronic hepatitis occurs in only 10% of those with normal immune function/versing 90 % in those who ar immunocompromised. 6)A healthy carrier is HBsAG+, but negative for HBeAg and HBV. Id recommend: 1)Infectious disease consult preferably one who can specialize in Hepatitis. Buy the book "The Best Doctors in your area"(Hopefully you're in the U.S or another "heavyweight" medical area.) Also try to locate this doc by word of mouth. Because you never know he may be closer then you think. 2)Eat a well balance diet to strengthen the immune system/with light exercise. 3)Some treat with large doses of HepB immune globulin and HBVvaccine I would double check the time limitation and dosing on this with the Center for Disease Control. 4)The good news is that most recover within a few months! lthough lab test may be abnormal for a longer period of time. 5)Unless you are debilitated, with altered sensorium, lethargic, "totally out of it" , you can still study and do a residency. Its a state by state decision being HIV+ or + for HBsAg does not necessarily stop one from working in a Hospital.(Not in New York anyway) 5)

I'm in the United State. I just got the result: HBSAg(+), HBSAb(-),HBEAg(-),HBEAb(+), HBCAb(+) But I decide to keep going. I think I'll be proud of myself if I can pass all the examinations even maybe I have no chance to be a real doctor. Thanks everybody.
