Hi Kerochi and team member,

Thanks for asking. I am feeling better. Will come back again.

A) In CHF hyponatremia, urine Na is DOWN, and Urine specific gravity is UP. Remember the subtle differences...like KNOW that if you have ADDISON'S dx, the urine Na will be up and the urine specific gravity will be DOWN! Think why!

hi yong,
gld you are feeling better...
can you pls elaborate on your question?

Good morning to all!!

  #128

hey guys
i'm sorry for not putting in my daily studying things over here from past so many days....well there is a reason for this...the thing is i didnot study anything from past 5-6 days.just feel that i'm loosing my track...i dont have any focus...how can you guys stay motivated all the time....

need you help my friends!!!
happy studying everyone!!!!

  #129

hi kiran,
don't worry what your feeling right now is normal, there are days that my review is progressive there are some days i barely read 2 chapters.
What motivates me a lot is "family" & "green thing later" if you know what I mean plus self satisfaction not in a selfishway but careerwise?
It's been my dream to become a doctor here in US not only in my own country. I want to prove I CAN DO IT bec. there are a lot of people who look down on you at times. I want to be like my sister whose successful w/ her own family now although she's still working on her step 2 she's still my hero.. She motivates me a lot & at times I teach her w/ some stuff & that makes me happy if she asks me questions abt mle.
Okay hope you will get back to studying later on... Keep your good spirit!! You can do it!!! We can pass this exam!! So help us GOD!

Hello Motivated Team

How is everyone?? Starting to pick up the pace? How any of you booked your exam yet? I'm still nowhere near. sad

Sorry friends. These past few days I've done very very little Step 1 preparation. We have college exams in eleven days, so I've been going into the library morning and night but am just too exhausted (and lazy!) to do anything when I get back. From Feb 10th though, it'll be USMLE all the way. What about you?

Take care team,
Moc

P.S. Oh, nearly forgot. Welcome suvi! I haven't gone through endo/reproduction yet, but I'll try soon. All the best on the Step 1 journey.

  #134

GOOD MORNING PEOPLE!!!
welcome to our team suvi...may you continue to motivate our team.. good set of questions...

i think you're the motivator!!! Keep up your hard work & positive outlook
towards studying.
hi moctopod,
what college exams r u taking? are u still in med school? sorry for being nosy just confused ..you may or may not answer me...it's fine.
hope you'll get back to studying step 1 soon..

lets start the day w/ reading again..

  #135

hi suvi,
i will try to answer your first 2 querries...
1. Testosterone & DHT are synthesized in the Leydig cells of the testis & adrenal glands.

2. I think this q has something to do w/ the steroidogenic pathway...
is it DHT or androstenedione?
don't know abt the rest yet.. will try once I encounter those in my review.
im still in grossanatomy/embryo/neuro/histo...

thanks for your q's mind giving the answers later?...

  #136

hi suvi forgot.. i think 4 mos is quite enough to prepare but you have to have good discipline towards your review unlike me, 'ive wasted 1/1/2 mos already that's why im trying to catch up w/ a LOTS of things.
This forum has helped me a lot in acquiring the good materials hopefully the best mats. in prep'n for this test. It's all up to us how we study...
be a freq member here & let us know how you're doing...
good luck to all of us..

  #140

hi kerochi,
thanks for all the inspiring words, i think thats how people like u leaders, motivators make the difference. unlike others ( for instance myself) who would only read the diaries, u will drop some suggestions, motivate them etc. we all have just started reading review together, first reading though, hoping that it continues well through the end. and u r verymuch true that forum has helped us to fall into the routine of studying everyday,i understand that now u r doing anatomy, how is it going with u ? when is ur exam date ? again wishing u and the motivated step 1 team all the best. keep up ur hardwork
cheers
hamsa

Let me try to answer your questions. I am feeling I am at this kind of stage. I need to connect any pieces of knowledge together.

1. The primary site of testosterone synthesis is the testes (Leydig cells) with low level synthesis occuring in the adrenal cortex. Low levels of testosterone are also synthesized in the ovary. DHT might be associated with alopecia, prostate hypertrophy , sexual organism etc.

2. I don't know it. I need to do more review.

3. ??????????????????????
Mullerian agenesis, a congenital malformation of the genital tract is the second most common cause of primary amenorrhoea. Its etiology is poorly understood. It may be associated with renal, skeletal or other abnormalities. The diagnosis is often made radiologically or laparoscopically. Three-dimensional ultrasound is a useful diagnostic tool. The hormonal profile and karyotype in these patients are normal. The management varies, but the treatment of choice is non surgical aimed at creating a neovagina. These patients require psychological support due to the implications for reproduction.

4.Asherman's syndrome is a rare condition. In most cases, it occurs after repetitive D&Cs are performed. A D&C may be performed following some miscarriages, in some elective surgical abortions, and to treat certain other problems related to the uterus such as heavy menstrual bleeding.

Asherman's syndrome can also occur after other types of uterine surgery. It may be more likely to happen after a pregnancy-related D&C or if an infection is present in the uterus during the time of the procedure. A severe pelvic infection unrelated to surgery may also lead to Asherman's syndrome.

Intrauterine adhesions can also form after infection with tuberculosis or schistosomiasis. These infections are rare in the United States, and uterine complications such as Asherman's syndrome related to these infections are even less common.

Good Day to all!!
What a good morning for me.. I slept at 10:30 last night instead of staying up late. I woke up at 5:am Did 50Q's randomly plus explanations
from 5:30 to 7:15.. My score 65% but it's okay I can improve.. it's just a warm up q's....
Will finish my Histo today...
Other Plan: Maybe will watch a movie later... not sure.

Please understand that RETENTION is everything. Please do NOT overestimate your retention but do NOT underestimate it either. After every one of these "concepts" and after EVERY single fact you read, "ASK yourself...what did I just read? Can I explain it to myself and others?" If you are simply reading and NOT retaining, you are learning but you will not be able to answer the USMLE questions. For example, you may understand a dx located on a specific chromosome number, but unless you repeat it to yourself often enough, you will not be able to answer the specific question on the USMLE. Love, Tommy.

  #146

Three cheers for the Step 1 team! grin

Kerochi, you're doing great, keep up the positive spirit! My thoughts are with you all.

Love,
pinkangel
