Hi, I have given my Step 1 and wanna go give my CSA in US sometime Feb-March...Lotsa seniors have told me horror stories (as I've read on this board as well) that u r usually denied Visa if u go with just CSA exam giving request....However, some ppl have said that going there on pretext of observership and giving CSA side by side is a better option...? what i wanna know is (a) is this really a better option, and (b) if i give this a shot, n my visa is turned down, and then i try to go on basis of gre (about to give dat as well...n plannng to apply fer a 1 yr MPH), will i still b denied ? which of the two is a better option ? regards.

hey anant, i have the same queries. I have travelled to the US once. So can i take steps 1 & 2 in india, and apply for a visitor visa again on the same grounds as before and take step 2 CS. Is there there any other way the consul comes to know that i`m going for CSA unless i tell him ?

hi gaurav, u can definitely take step 1 here. i just did. and since u've already visited US once before, u have a better chance of getting a visa on the same pretext u used before and giving ur step 2 CS there. its usually a problem, if its a first time visit like fer me. i have travelled outside india but never to the us. btw, this depends on how far back u visited the us. i mean this reasoning of mine totally fails if u visited the country when u were in like diapers !! hope this helps. best of luck.

Thaks anant, for your prompt reply. i visited 2 years back. does that help ? also, if i reapeat my previous question, 1)Is there any other way that consul comes to know that i`m going for CSA unless i tell them. 2)do all those people who have been denied visa for step2 CS generally say that they`re goin g for step 2 CS ?

Hi gaurav, ok. so 2 years ago isn't too bad. but i wudnt advice trying to hide the real reason for your visit. i recently heard this, that these guys will find out the next time u go, as their systems and records show dat on ur last visit (when u lied n said u were going fer ne reason other that CSA), and u went n gave ur CSA. so 2 d consulate, ur basically a liar who went of false pretext, n so they may take that against u the next time u wanna go out. i think its best if u contact a consultant like kaplan as thats wat everyone i kno is doing. they really prep u well and advice u well. hope that helps. take care.
