i think it is due to release of TBG from damaged hepatocytes, much like Troponin-I from heart, in MI. However, TBG is the most long lived amongst binding globulins, hence the level of TBG sustains even after apparent recovery. Its elevation is also associated with HCC, fairly long before any symptom appear.

Here is my reasoning: Acro causes increase in the IGF-like factors which in turn increase the liver size, heart size, etc but also increase the anabolic activities in the body thus increasing all the proteins. Hence TBG too due to its action on liver. Why not hepatitis ; Hepatitis will cause transient increase in the TBG but this will be shortlived and decrease rapidly due to compensatory mechanisms. Also meanwhile, the liver itself will be decompensated and will go into negative nitrogen balance and shut down most of its biosynthetic pathways. So I strongly think Acromegaly is the right answer. Please give your feedback.
