Insulin is the main anabolic hormone causing lipogenesis. Its release is triggered by high blood glucose after a diet, as we all know.

that's the basis on which "atkin's diet" works -> stop eating carbohydrates and your insulin-level decreases and therefore lipogenesis decreases as well. but still, don't try that, since brain and erythrocytes need carbohydrates (glucose).
