Well, just a follow up to my earlier very nervous post, I got my scores today, and I was very very surprised to see a 99 when I opened the letter. Thank you to everyone on the website here who has helped and guided me along through step I and now Step II CK. What I did: I studied only Kaplan notes (2003 edition). I skimmed (very lightly) First Aid and Advanced Life Support for Step II. Otherwise all Kaplan notes. I read Kaplan notes 3 times. I studied for 2 months in the evenings after work and on weekends. I took off the last week before the test to study all day. After reading Kaplan notes 2 times, I took the NBME form I and got 530. On Kaplan Q-bank I was getting from 80-90%. I didn't do USMLE World. I thought Kaplan notes weren't enough, but I guess they are more than sufficient (like with Step I). As for what questions came... like I said in my day after the test post, the questions are all really wierd. Kaplan questions aren't similar and even NBME are too easy compared to the real test. I didn't take USMLE World so I can't comment on that. They tested everything. I felt it there were a lot of ABGs and electrolyte disturbances, but it was really all a blur. It is medicine and pedi heavy, so know those subjects well. Time management is an issue. In one block I didn't get to finish the last 2 questions. All the other blocks I was racing to finish just in time. Amazing. I am still in shock. Listen people, as I said after my step I score, I am not brilliant. I was not the top of my class in India. And I studied for only 2 months while working full time in research. It can be done. You really can pass these silly tests. Don't lose faith that you are a good doctor. And don't believe that just because you did well or poorly on these tests makes you a good or bad doctor, respectively. These are just tests. It's all a game. Best of luck people! I am busy interviewing right now, but I will try and peek into the site to offer help if I can.

Hey thanks everyone. No, I didn't use CMDT at all. After my exam, I thought it might be better to use a bigger book of medicine than Kaplan notes, but I guess Kaplan notes was enough.

Congrats retroviridae! I got one Q for you.....It is about step 1 not step 2. Do you think the kaplan review books plus first aid with q bank are enuff for a good score in step 1?? Same materials were enuff for my step 2.....Just wandering if step 1 needs more comprehensive preparation..... Thanks for your responce in advance!

I don't like blueprints (too little info). BRS is more info than Kaplan, and so must be good, but Kaplan was all I really used and I got a 99. Yep, no matching questions. I only used Kaplan notes and FA for step I. I got a 98. I think they are more than enough.
