I did my residency in neurosurgery in Mexico. I did some fellowships in the states and now I am in private practice in a rural area. It is possible!

I can share some of my experiences with other people interested in knowing more about it.

Mario:

I'm really interested in knowing how you did it.
I understand you need a medical license to practice, and if you only got the fellowships (wich I presume you needed to pass the Steps to get into) in order to work as a neurosurgeon, then I'm really impressed.
I'd appreciate if you tell me in what state can you do that, and how you did it.

I got my ECFMG in 1982 en the FLEX in 1988. So, with these two and three years of clinical fellowships I could get medical license in Maryland and New Mexico. That's al I needed to get the license. The next challenge was to find a job as a neurosurgeon. That was tricky, but in underserved rural places it is possible as long as one get a medical license.
