Hi,it's a little bit strange to communicate in English,but whatever!
I'm very glad to find here people from my country!And as I read a lot of you have some experience in this field...Well,my situation is complicated- I'm Bulgarian,currently studying in Germany(will be finished 2006),but the more time I spend here in Germany,the more I'm thinking about getting out of here-bad situaion for physicians-overtime,underpaid...I did a rotation this summer in the US and liked it a lot!Now I don't know waht to do-would like to start preparing for Step 1,but I don't have 1 year time-should I wait until I finish medical school,do it afterwards?What do you think?How much time does one need to get prepared at average?I'm looking forward to your opinion

Hi,
I graduated in BG - Stara Zagora in 2001 and I took step 1, 2 (CK and CS) and now preparing for Step 3! I did all this in 2 years (I had to go to the army ) .... it's both time and money consuming (not to mention the studing ) to get eligible and start a residency in US.... but not -impossible.... For guys like us you need high scores, some research experience would help a lot when applying for residency.... + u have to think about visas - fortunately you have 2 choices - J visa (very eaasy to get but HAVE to go back to BG and stay there for 2 years after completion of residency) and H1 (harder to get, need Step 3 cleared too, BUT can become a Green Card).... so you see its somewhat complicated.... U can take Step 1 and Step 2 CK in Germany. I did mine in Greece and Romania , but for Step 2 CS and Step 3 have to be in US....
