A man was negotiating a very difficult poo. However, after a short period of trying to overcome the constipation by forcing he fainted. Can anyone please explain what is happening in this scenario?

there is a form of constipation that is dangerous. And that is when there is an obstruction at the distal part of the large intestines, this leads to a week of constipation which eventualy makes it impossible for tadditional chyme to reach the large intestines. Usually though when this happens severe vommiting will follow. Either that or he pushed a little too hard :| (joke)

This is an example Situational syncope (aka vasovagal attack, vasodepressor syncope or Gower syndrome). It is a vasovagal reaction or a vasovagal attack. What happens is that because of a reflex of the involuntary nervous system (vasovagal reaction), this leads to slowing of the heart rate and dilation of the blood vessels in the legs thus lowering the blood pressure. The result is that less blood (therefore less oxygen) reaches the brain as it is directed to the legs. Patients often note nausea, sweating, or weakness just before the loss of consciousness occurs. Other forms os situational syncope are during urination or coughing. Hope this helps.
