how does glucocorticoids treatment cause hypocalcemia?

  #2

This is due probably that glucocorticoid treatment diminishes the fxn of the adrenal cortex so the result is deficiency of mineralocorticoids homeostasis due that in the kidney 60% of Ca++ is reabsorbed with Na in a cotransport manner. Correct me if I am wrong.

just read from one book. it says glucocorticoid causes hypocalcemia because it decrease calcium absorption from intestine and from renal tubules.

  #4

Probably same mechanism of Na-Ca cotransport in the small intestine
